8A. Commission for the Arts Annual Work Plan.
Chair Hebert led discussion of the Arts Annual Work Plan with contributionsfrom Arts Administrator
Murphy.
1.Discussedand providedupdatesand outcomesonthe FY23-24Work Plan.
2.Assignedcommissionerstoad hoc committees as needed.
3.Suggestedand discussedpotential items for the FY24-25 WorkPlanthat align with the Arts
Divisions work plan and CityCouncil priorities.Vice-Chair Fox proposed the creation of an
AdHoc Committee for the month of February to provide new Commissioners with an
outline of discussion items to include on the FY24/25 Work Plan. The AdHoc Committee
members will includeChair Hebert, Vice-Chair Fox, and CommissionerCampbell. The
outline discussion items will covertopics such as:Art Night calendar dates, youth
performances, Poet Laureate,and the Arts Master Plan

COMMISSIONER HEBERT MOTIONED TO EXTEND THE MEETING BY 30 MINUTES TO 7:30PM,
SECOND BY COMMISIONERABRAHAM, AND THE MOTION CARRIED: AYES: ABRAHAM,

8B. Pacific View ArtsCenter.
ArtsAdministrator Murphy provided an update to Commissioners regarding the Pacific View ArtsCenter.
She shared that finishing touches are beingadded to the buildingssuch as: the awnings, pergolas, polished
concrete floors,laminate floors in the performing arts roomsand admin lobby,new ADA ramp,benches,and
repurposed wood. She reported thatstaff areactivelyrecruiting for contract instructors. She answered
commissionersquestions regardingfundraising sourcessuch as namingand sponsorshipopportunitiesand
private funding for the Pacific View ArtsCenter.
9.INFORMATIONAL ITEMS
9A. Cultural Arts Division ReportArts AdministratorMurphy
Arts Administrator Murphy shared that it is budget seasonand staffis working on the FY24-25
planning, as well as potential mid-year budget adjustments. She advised that staff is working onthe
Spring Activity Guide that will includePacific Viewclasseswith a specific focuson the Summer Art
Campswhichstartmid-June. Additionally, sheshared that she is working on a report for a future City
Councilmeeting tentatively scheduled for February 14, regardingoperationaldetails for Pacific View
Arts Center. Lastly, she discussedvarious platforms being consideredtopromotecontract instructor
recruitment.

Ticket prices are $20 pre-purchase, $25 at door and $10 students with studentID card.
10.COMMISSION MEMBER INITITIATED AGENDAITEMS
Chair Hebert proposedputting together a briefing on the theater pad to add asa future agenda item.
It would include atheater paddescription,history,and what it could mean for the future ofEncinitas.

12.COMMISSIONERSREPORTS
Commissioner Abraham shareda book she enjoyedtitled, Your Brain on Artby Magsamenand Ross
regarding the psychological benefits of the arts on your brain. ViceChair Fox shared she has met with
people excited to bringforth programming andclassesto the Pacific View Arts Center. Commissioners
Leesand Hebert shared positive feedbackregarding their experienceof being a part of theArts
Commission, enjoying having young, new people on the commissionand participating in community
events such asthe Holiday Parade. Lastly, Commissioner Marakovits sharedher favorite experience
on the Arts Commission has beenattendingthe Moonlight Beach Summer Concert Seriesand
Tramonto Concerts.
