Public SpeakerDavid Pirl, ceramics teacher at Veterans Art Projectin Vista spoke regarding his
interest and support in helping to develop aceramics programat the Pacific View Arts Center.
Public Speaker Jamie Edmond, labyrinth artist fromTransition Labyrinth spoke regarding his interestin
offeringacommunity labyrinth on NewYears Day in Encinitas.
Public Speaker Judy Salinsky, sculpture artist, spoke regardingher proposal to create a public art
safety sculpture of asting ray to promote safety awareness for the Sting Ray Shuffleto childrenat
Moonlight Beach.

ArtsAdministrator Murphy provided anupdate to Commissionersthatconstruction ofthe Pacific View Arts
Centeris on scheduleandshared photos and details of the construction progress. Shespoke about the
presentation to the City Council at the November 15thmeeting regarding contract instructor recruitment, results
of the surveyand the City Councils approval ofthe recommendedmission and vision statements andto
evaluate programming for Pacific View in a year. She discussedthe programming committeesconcerns about
recruiting instructors, branding, limited schedules, existing program registrationsoftwareand funding sourcesfor
the Pacific View Arts Center. Lastly, sheprovided clarification ofthecorrect namefor the Pacific View Art(s)
Centeranddiscussedthat the brandingnarrativefor the centerbe inclusive, accessible,and diverse to the
community.

9A. Cultural Arts Division Report-Arts AdministratorMurphy
Arts Administrator Murphybegan her reportby informing the Commission that the City Clerk is
recruiting for the Commission for the Arts vacancies.The application deadlineforincumbents is
January18,2024,and for new applicants, January25, 2024,at 5pm. Applicationsare available on
the city website:www.encinitasca.gov/government/boards-commissions/commission-for-the-arts.
ArtsAdministrator Murphy sharedthata requestwill be submitted in theFY24-25 budget to hirea
consultantto help develop the Arts Master Plan.She reported that the NorthCoast Repertory will be
onafuture agenda item. Lastly, she reminded the Commission thatCity Hall will be closed December

22ndto January1for the holidays, returning on January2and that the next Arts Commission
meeting will be onJanuary 8, 2024.
