ORIENTATION WORKSHOP MINUTES
CITY OF ENCINITAS YOUTH COMMISSION

1. CALL TO ORDER
Supervisor Camarena called the meeting to order at 4:32 P.M.
2. ROLL CALL
Present: Commissioners Ca. Ballow, Co. Ballow, Charles, Gonzalez, Kelley, Kessler,
Leschensky, Ryan and Su.
Absent: None.
Also Present: Recreation Services Manager Hamer, Recreation Supervisor Camarena,
Recreation Supervisor Anderson and Management Analyst Fisher.

None.
5. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS/POSSIBLE DIRECTION TO STAFF
Kelly McCormick spoke about volunteer opportunities with San Dieguito Alliance for Drug
Free Youth.
6. WELCOME/INTRODUCTIONS
Supervisor Camarena welcomed Commissioners, introduced staff, and gave an overview
of the Youth Commission.
7. TEAM BUILDING EXERCISE
Supervisor Camarena led a team building exercise.
8. CIVIC ENGAGEMENT VIDEO
Supervisor Camarena presented a City of Encinitas Civic Engagement video.
9. YOUTH COMMISSION PRESENTATION
Supervisor Camarena gave an overview of Commissioner roles and responsibilities.
Manager Hamer and Supervisor Anderson provided additional comments about
Commissioner expectations.
10. COMMISSION REPORTS
Commissioners provided informational updates on youth related topics.
11. ADJOURNMENT
Supervisor Camarena adjourned the meeting at 5:23 P.M.
