1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Ling called the meeting to order at 2:00 P.M.
2. ROLL CALL
Present: Chair Ling, Commissioners Hanwit, Angel, Martin, Farley, and Koblentz.
Absent: Commissioner Tobias
Also Present: Manager Goodsell, Manager Hamer, and Management Analyst Gilliam.
There being a quorum present, the meeting was in order.

4A. Marilyn Greenblatt, Director of Transportation, Jewish Family Service of San Diego, On the Go,
Transportation Solutions for Older Adults.
Director Greenblatt provided an overview of the transportation options for seniors residing in San Diego
County that are offered by On the Go.
4B. Jesse Hanwit, Vice Chair Senior Commission, Grant Process Overview
Commissioner Hanwit provided a brief presentation to the Commission on how to prepare and submit a grant
proposal.

MINUTES, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER FARLEY. MOTION CARRIED. AYES: ANGEL, FARLEY,
HANWIT, KOBLENTZ, MARTIN, LING. NAYS: NONE. ABSTAIN: NONE. ABSENT: TOBIAS.

8A. Senior Citizen Commission FY 23/24 Annual Work Plan
Chair Ling led the discussion regarding the FY 23/24 Annual Work Plan
9. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS
9A. Senior Center Operations Report, Recreation Center Manager Christie Goodsell
Manager Goodsell provided updates regarding Center operations. She shared that the Senior Social Dance
will be held on Friday, May 19 and the next Art Night will be held on Saturday, June 3.

9B. Department Updates – Recreation Services Manager Margaret Hamer
Manager Hamer shared that the Summer Recreation Guide has been published and distributed to Encinitas

residents. Summer registration opened yesterday. The next movie night will be held on October 14, location
to be determined. She encouraged the Commissioners to attend next week’s City Council meeting where the
Senior Citizen of the Year and Lifetime Achievement recipient’s will receive their recognition.
