1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Ling called the meeting to order at 2:02 P.M.
2. ROLL CALL
Present: Chair Ling, Vice-Chair Angel, and Commissioners Farley, Hanwit, Koblentz, and Martin.
There is one vacancy.
Absent: None
Also Present: Recreation Center Manager Goodsell and Management Analyst Gilliam.
There being a quorum present, the meeting was in order.

4A. Diana Minuzzi, Librarian II, Encinitas Library, New Services and Programs.
Ms. Minuzzi and her colleagues presented information regarding various programs that the Encinitas Library
offers for older adults.
4B. George Hernandez and Jonathan Simon, Crime Prevention Specialists, Encinitas Sheriff Station, Fraud
and Scam Prevention. Specialists Hernandez and Simon presented information to the Commissioners as it
relates to the elderly community.
5. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS / POSSIBLE DIRECTION TO STAFF
Jerry Anne spoke regarding the Melba Project.

Approval of the June 21, 2022 regular meeting minutes.

8A. Senior Citizen Commission Annual Work Plan Review.
Chair Ling led the discussion regarding the FY2022/23 Senior Citizen Commission Work Plan. The
Commissioners held discussions regarding various workplan items.
9. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS
9A. Senior Center Operations Report and Department Updates.
Recreation Center Manager Goodsell provided updates for the department, Senior Center programs and
services, and the Nutrition Program. She announced that Clinton Calkins has been promoted to the Senior
Nutrition Recreation Supervisor position. Jacklyn Little-Parhar has been promoted to the Extended Part Time

Senior Nutrition Coordinator. She also shared that Commissioner Christie Kramer-Levander resigned effective

and thanked her for her service. The City is currently accepting applications to fill that vacancy and

are due by Thursday, August 18 by 5:00pm. The last Sunday Summer Concert for 2022 will be held on

Sunday, August 21
from 3:00pm-5:00pm. Lastly, she shared that registration for fall Recreation programs
began on August 15, 2022.
