8A. Commission for the Arts Annual Work Plan
Arts Administrator Murphy presented the Commission with abriefPowerPoint presentation regarding
the Cultural Arts Division programsthat the Commission may play a role in.
Chair Corrales-Schmitt led commissionersthrough the workplan and commissioners shared progress
updates for each itemfor the FY 22/34 Work Plan and the Commissioners discussed potential Work
Plan items for FY 23/24.
9.INFORMATIONALITEMS
9A. CulturalArts DivisionReport–ArtsAdministrator Murphy
Arts Administrator Murphy shared that there have been some piano related events held at the
Community and Senior Center that were very well receivedby the public. She shared that the newest
installationof public art started today beginningat CityHall, followed by theEncinitasLibraryand
finally the Community and Senior Center. Staff is focusingon departmentbudgetsover the next few
months.El Portal has officiallykickedoff with the kids coming back to school from the holiday break.
The entire school community is onboard and engaged.She provided updates regarding the new 3D
application,sculpture pad project, mosaic medallions repairs along Coast Highway 101, AEP6survey
is still ongoing for about another4 months. She shared that staff plans on releasing theapplicationfor

the Community Grant Programduring the week ofJanuary 17. The selection of the Community Grant
Program panelist will be added to next month’s Commission Agenda.

Chair Corrales-Schmittprovidedthe update on CommissionerValenzuela’s behalfandshared that
EFA’smembershipappreciation event was successful and that theirboard retreat is coming up on
January 21, 2023. He also shared that the organizationis going to take a step backwith how many
events will be put onand re-evaluate how to best serve the Encinitas community.
10.COMMISSIONER INITIATED AGENDA ITEMS
Commissioner Redlitz will write an agendareport regardingthe Cal Trans landscaping on theEncinitas
Blvdunderpass.
11.FUTUREAGENDA ITEMSADDEDBY COMMISSION MEMBERS
There was consensus amongthe Commissioners that they wouldlike a report regardingthe banners
along Coast Hwy 101 as it relates to public art.

Commissioners shared updates as pertaining to arts events.
