8A. Donation of Artwork
Commissioners discussed the AdHoc recommendation to accept the sculpture as public art and to
acceptthe benches as furniture for use at arts events.
ACTION
COMMISSIONER CORRALES-SCHMITT MOVED APPROVAL THAT THE COMMISSION MAKE A
RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL TO ACCEPT THE SCULPTURE AS PUBLIC ART,
SECOND BY COMMISSIONER REDLITZ, AND THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0.
8B. Commission for the Arts Annual Work Plan
Chair Corrales-Schmitt led commissioners through the workplan and commissioners shared progress
updates for each item.

9A. CulturalArts DivisionReport–ArtsAdministrator Murphy
Arts Administrator Murphy shared that the new Arts Supervisorcandidateis in backgrounds and the
anticipated start date is January 9, 2023.The installation of the Encinitas Blvd Underpass has begun.

The El Portal project is going to begin very soon. She urged the Commissioners to advocate with all
the arts organizations to participate with the Arts and Economic Prosperitysurveysand there will need
to be an accelerated push to in the new year to captureattendance and economic contributions to arts
events.The Community Grant Program for FY 23-24 will be released earlier in 2023 than it has been
in the past to allow applicants more timeto submit.She shared thatthe Arts Division will be taking on
thefourSummer Sunday Concerts at Moonlight Beach.Lastly, isworkingon Arts programming.
