8A. Commission for the Arts Work Plan
Chair Corrales-Schmitt welcomed the new Commissioner Katy Fox. Chair Corrales-Schmitt led the
discussion regardingthe FY 2022-23Commission for the Arts Work Plan. Discussion tookplace on
items withupdates to be shared.Therewere some minor revisionsregarding Ad Hoc Committee
membersto addCommissioner Fox to current work plan items.

INFORMATIONALITEMS
9A. CulturalArts DivisionReportArtsAdministrator Murphy
Arts Administrator Murphy shared that the Music by the Sea concert held on September 23 was a
huge success and the next Music by the Sea concert will be held on October 21. She shared that staff
is working ongetting ticketing live for live performances at the Community and Senior Center. Staff is
alsolooking intopiano maintenance programming.The Arts Division will be hiring a full time Arts
Supervisor.
Director Karlen shared thatmembers ofthepublic will be able to comment on the color palette
selectionfor Pacific View at the next Commission meeting.

Commissioner Valenzuela shared that EFA is still working on planning for Dia de los Muertos which is
taking place on October 29 at the Community and Senior Center. He also shared that theybrought a
new events coordinator on board.
9D. Status Report on iPalpiti Festival Director Karlen
Director Karlen shared that the CityManager has had several conversations with iPalpiti,and they are
near a decision to reconsider leaving Encinitas. He clarified that Music by the Sea program is a City
program.

There was a consensusof the Commissionto have staff provide a report on the status of the Encinitas
Town Centers theater pad.
