Chair Corrales-Schmitt led the discussion regardingthe FY 2022-23Commission for the Arts Work
Plan. There were some minor revisionsregarding Ad Hoc Committee members and theaddition of the
Visual Arts component which was missing.

INFORMATIONALITEMS
9A.Director’s Report–Parks,Recreation andCultural Arts Director Karlen
Director Karlen shared that Summer Recreation Guide for summer programs and classes will bemailed
to residents on May 12 and registration openson May 16. Summer Camp registration is already open.
He shared that on May 14, “Encanto”will be shown at Glen Park. Director Karlen shared thata press
release came outregarding naturalmovement that occurred at Beacons Beach and the access trail is
currentlyclosed. Director Karlen expressed appreciation for the years of service offormerPark Host
Terry Sisson who recently passed away. The City released an RFQfor the recruitment process to fill
the vacancy. Healsoshared that the City will be launching a new app, Outer Spatial,later this summer.
Concerts are returning to Moonlight Beach this summer, with two being held in July and two being held
in August.
9B. CulturalArts Division Report–ArtsAdministrator Murphy
Arts Administrator Murphy shared that the Wednesdays@Noon concerts have been streaming into the
Encinitas Union School District libraries. The schools have shared feedback and the students are
loving it.The City hopes to be able to offer thestreaming concerts to the Cardiff School District as well
as the San Dieguito Union HighSchoolDistrict. The Arts and Economic Prosperity Surveywindow is
now open. She shared thattraining will be offered later this week for the Commissioners thatwere not
able to attend the training previously offered. She shared that Art Nightis May 14and will be held in a
similarfashion to the March Art Night. Artists will be at the Community and Senior Center and the
Library. Arts Administrator Murphy sharedthatshe will be attending the Americansfor the Arts
Conference min-May and will be sharing what she learns with theCommissioners.

Commissioner Lees shared that EFA will be holdinga Persian Calligraphyevent coming up on June
18, 2022 at the EncinitasCommunity Centerwith musicians, dancers, painting and light refreshments.
Commissioner Lees also shared that EFA supports other arts events and projects through fundraising
efforts.
