7. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DESIGN, CONSTRUCT AND MAINTAIN ALL SAFETY DEVICES, INCLUDING
SHORING, AND SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CONFORMING TO ALL LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL
SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARDS. LAWS AND REGULATIONS.
8. GRADING AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING WITHIN ONE-HALF (1/2) MILE OF A STRUCTURE FOR
HUMAN OCCUPANCY SHALL NOT BE CONDUCTED BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 5:30 P.M. AND
7:30 A.M. NOR ON SATURDAYS, SUNDAYS AND CITY RECOGNIZED HOLIDAYS.
9. NO GRADING OPERATIONS SHALL COMMENCE UNTIL A PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETING HAS BEEN
HELD ONSITE PATH THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE PRESENT: CITY INSPECTOR. CIVIL ENGINEER, SOILS
ENGINEER, GRADING CONTRACTOR AND PERMITTEE. THE PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETING SHALL
BE SCHEDULED PATH THE CITY AT LEAST 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE BY CALLING (760)
633-2770.
10. PRIOR TO HAUUNG DIRT OR CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS TO ANY PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION
SITE WITHIN THIS PROJECT THE DEVELOPER SHALL SUBMIT TO AND RECEIVE APPROVAL FROM
THE CITY ENGINEER FOR THE PROPOSED HAUL ROUTE. THE DEVELOPER SHALL COMPLY WITH
ALL CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS THE CITY ENGINEER MAY IMPOSE WITH REGARDS TO THE
HAULING OPERATION.
11. UPON FINAL COMPLETION OF THE WORK UNDER THE GRADING PERMIT, BUT PRIOR TO FINAL
GRADING APPROVAL AND/OR FINAL RELEASE OF SECURITY, AN "AS GRADED CERTIFICATION"
SHALL BE PROVIDED STATING: "THE GRADING UNDER PERMIT 14083-G HAS BEEN PERFORMED
IN SUBSTANTIAL CONFORMANCE WITH THE APPROVED. GRADING PLAN OR AS SHOWN ON THE
ATTACHED AS -GRADED PLAN". THIS STATEMENT SHALL BE FOLLOWED BY THE DATE AND
SIGNATURE OF THE CIVIL ENGINEER WHO CERTIFIES SUCH GRADING OPERATION.
12. ALL GRADING SHALL BE INSPECTED AND TESTED BY A QUALIFIED SOILS ENGINEER OR UNDER
HIS DIRECTION HE SHALL INSPECT AND TEST THE EXCAVATION PLACEMENT AND COMPACTION
OF FILLS AND BACKFILLS AND COMPACTION OF TRENCHES. HE SHALL SUBMIT SOILS REPORTS
AS REQUIRED AND WILL DETERMINE THE SUITABILITY OF ANY FILL MATERIAL. UPON
COMPLETION OF GRADING OPERATIONS HE SHALL STATE THAT OBSERVATIONS AND TESTS
WERE MADE BY HIM OR UNDER HIS SUPERVISION AND THAT IN HIS OPINION, ALL
EMBANKMENTS AND EXCAVATIONS ARE ACCEPTABLE FOR THEIR INTENDED USE.
13. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROPERLY GRADE ALL EXCAVATED SURFACES TO PROVIDE POSITIVE
DRAINAGE AND PREVENT PONDING OF WATER. HE SHALL CONTROL SURFACE WATER AND
AVOID DAMAGE TO ADJOINING PROPERTIES OR FINISHED WORK ON THE SITE AND SHALL TAKE
REMEDIAL MEASURE TO PREVENT EROSION OF FRESHLY GRADED AREAS UNTIL SUCH TIME AS
PERMANENT DRAINAGE AND EROSION CONTROL MEASURES HAVE BEEN INSTALLED.
14. ALL AREAS TO BE FILLED SHALL BE PREPARED TO BE :FILLED AND FILL SHALL BE PLACED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH STANDARD SPECIFICATION. ALL VEGETABLE MATTER AND OBJECTIONABLE
MATERIAL SHALL BE REMOVED BY THE CONTRACTOR FROM THE SURFACE UPON WHICH THE
FILL IS TO BE PLACED. LOOSE FILL AND ALLUVIAL SOILS SHALL BE REMOVED TO SUITABLE
FIRM NATURAL GROUND. THE EXPOSED SOILS SHALL BE SCARIFIED TO A DEPTH OF 12
INCHES AND THEN COMPACTED TO A MINIMUM OF 90 PERCENT. IT SHALL BE THE
CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO PLACE, SPREAD, WATER AND COMPACT THE FILL IN
STRICT ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS.
15. CUT AND FILL SLOPES SHALL BE CUT AND TRIMMED TO FINISH GRADE TO PRODUCE SMOOTH
SURFACE AND UNIFORM CROSS SECTION. THE SLOPES OR EXCAVATION AND EMBANKMENTS
SHALL BE SHAPED, PLANTED, AND TRIMMED AS DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER OF WORK AND
LEFT IN A NEAT AND ORDERLY CONDITION. ALL STONES, ROOTS AND OTHER WASTE MATTER
EXPOSED OR EXCAVATION OR EMBANKMENT SLOPES WHICH ARE UABLE TO BECOME LOOSENED
SHALL BE REMOVED AND DISPOSED OF. THE TOE AND TOP OF ALL SLOPES SHALL BE
ROUNDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE GRADING ORDINANCE.
16. ALL TREES, BRUSH, GRASS, AND OTHER OBJECTIONABLE MATERIAL SHALL BE COLLECTED,
PILED OR OTHERWISE DISPOSED OF OFF THE SITE BY THE CONTRACTOR SO AS TO LEAVE THE
AREAS THAT HAVE BEEN CLEARED WITH A NEAT AND FINISHED APPEARANCE FREE FROM
UNSIGHTLY DEBRIS. APPROVAL OF LOCATION OF DEBRIS FILL SHALL BE SECURED FROM THE
SOILS ENGINEER AND CITY ENGINEER PRIOR TO THE DISPOSAL OF ANYSUCHMATERIAL.
17. THE REMOVAL OF ANY AND ALL CITY TREES SHALL BE CONSISTENT WITH THE CITYS URBAN
FOREST MANAGEMENT PROGRAM. TREES LOCATED WITHIN CITY STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY, ON
CITY PROPERTY, OR WITHIN CITY EASEMENTS ARE REFERRED TO AS CITY TREES AND SHALL

STRUCTURAL - GENERAL NOTES
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
GOVERNING CODE: The design and construction of this project is governed by the "Caldfomla Building Code
(CBC)", W 16 Edition, bereaRer reerted to as the CBC, as adopted and modified by the C'Ty of Encinitas, CA un-
derstood to be Me Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
REFERENCE STANDARDS: Refer to Chapter S5 of 2016 CBC. Where rimer Standards are noted in the draw-
ings, use he latest edition of the standard unless a Specific date is indicated. Reference to a spectik section in a
code dam not relieve the contractor from compliance with the entire standam.
DEFINITIONS: The following definftions cover the meanings of cerise terms used in these notes:
'Archi ectrEngine si The Architect of Record and the Structural Engineer of Record
• "Structural Engineer of Record' (SER) - The structural engineer who is licensed to stamp & sign the
structural documents for the project- The SER is responsible far the design of the Primary Structural Sys-
tem.
• 'Submit for recall - Submit to the AmhitecHEngineer far review prior to fabrication or construction.
'Per Plan' - Indicates references to the structured plans, elevations and Structural general notes.
• "Specialty Structural Engineer' (SSE) - A pmfeasdonal engineer (PE or SE), licensed in the Slate where
the project is local (typically not the SER), who pedoons specialty Structural engineering services for
Selected specialty engineered elements identified in Ne Contract Documents, and who has experience
ant training in the Specialty. Documents scrimped and signed by the SSE shall be completed by or under
Me direct supervielon of the SSE.

STRUCTURAL DETAILS: The structural drawings are intended to show the general character and extent of the
project and am net intended to show all means of the work. Use entire detail sheets and specific details referenced
In the plans as'Typical' wherever they apply. Similarly, use detalls on entire Shoals with "typical" in the name
wherever they apply.
STRUCTURAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The structural engineer (SER) is responsible far the strength and stability of
the primary stmdure in its completed farm.
COORDINATON: The Contractor Is responsible far coordinating details and accuracy of the work; for confirming
and careful all quantities and dimensions; for Salentine fabrication procesaea; for techniques of assembly; and
far performing work in a sate and swum manner.
PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETINGS: The Contractor is responsible for demanding pm -construction meetings prior
to commencing work. Pre -con meetings, scheduled approximately two weeks color W the start of the relevant
work, are requiretl for me fddowing phases of construction: Poet -tensioned slabs, Concrete, Wood Framing.
Attendees for pre -construction meeting am to include contactor, relevant subcontracers, fabricators, inspectors,

MEANS METHODS and SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: The contractor is responsible for the means and methods of
construction and all jab mated safety standards such as OSHA and DOSH (Department of Occupational Sorely
and Health). The connector is responsible for means and methods of construction alleged to the intemrediae struc-
tural conditions (la. movement of the structure due to moisture and thermal effects; construction sequence; tempo-
rary grading, etc).
BRACING/9HORING DESIGN ENGINEER: The contractor shall at his discretion employ an SSE, a registered
professional engineer for Me design of any temporary bmang and sharing. Submit adnatmation sequence to Arent.
tecVEngdneerfor review.
TEMPORARY SHORING BRACING The contractor is responsible for the strength and stability 0 the structure
during construction and shall provide temporary shoring, bracing and other elements required to maintain stability

CONSTRUCTION LOADS: Loads an Me structure during construction shall not exceed the tlesign loads as noted

attention of the ArchitecVEngineer before processing with me wore. Should any discrepancy be found in the Con-

ADJACENT UTILITIES: The contractor shall determine the location of all adjacent underground utilities prior to
earthwork, international sharing, and excavation and prior to drilling hoes far piles and tieback anchors. Any utility
information shown on the drawings and Saudis is approximate and net necessarily complee.
ALTERNATES: Alternate products of similar strength, nature and form for specified gems may be submitted with
adequate technical documentation (proper test raped etc.) to the AmbromEngineer for review. Alternate moral

SUBMITTALS

SUBMITTAL REVIEW PERIOD: Submittals shall be made in time to provide a mhmmuen of TWO WEEKS or 10
WORKING DAYS for review by the Archit"VErgeneer prior to the onset of fabrication.
GENERAL CONTRACTOR'S PRIOR REVIEW: Prior to submission to the ArchitectEngineer, the Contractor shall
review the submwal for completeness. Dimensions and quantities are not estiewetl by the SER, and therefore,
must be verified by the General Contractor. Contractor shall provide any necessary dimensional details requested
by me Detainer and provide the Contractors review stamp and signature before forwarding to the Amhiteohl
Engineer.

1. FOR STORM WATER POLLUTION CONTROL PURPOSES, ALL RUNOFF FROM ALL IMPERVIOUS
SURFACES INCLUDING ROOF DRAINS SHALL DISCHARGE ONTO GRASS AND LANDSCAPE AREAS
PRIOR TO COLLECTION AND DISCHARGE ONTO THE STREET AND/OR INTO THE PUBLIC STORM
DRAIN SYSTEM.
2. GRASS AND LANDSCAPE AREAS DESIGNATED FOR STORM WATER POLLUTION CONTROL SHALL
NOT BE MODIFIED WITHOUT A PERMIT FROM THE CITY.
3. ALL IMPERVIOUS AREAS WITHIN THE SITE SHALL DRAIN TO APPROVED BMP/IMP FACILITIES
AND/OR TO TURF OR LANDSCAPED AREAS WITH ADEQUATE GROUNDCOVER PRIOR TO
DISCHARGE FROM THE SITE. ALL IMPERVIOUS AREAS MUST SLOPE TOWARD THE APPROVED
BMP/IMP FACILITY AND/OR THE TURF/LANDSCAPED AREAS.
4. NO DRAINS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN HARDSCAPE, DRIVEWAYS, OR ANY OTHER IMPERVIOUS
AREA UNLESS THE FLOW FROM THE DRAIN DISCHARGES TO AN ADEQUATE IMP/BMP.
5. DRIVEWAYS SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM 2% CROSS SLOPE TOWARD THE IMP/BMP AREA OR HAVE
ANOTHER APPROVED DRAINAGE SYSTEM THAT IS DESIGNED TO COLLECT RUNOFF AND
DISCHARGE IT TO AN ADEQUATE IMP/BMP.
6. ALL STORMWATER IMP/BMP FACILITIES SHOWN HEREON SHALL NOT BE MODIFIED OR ALTERED
WITHOUT A PERMIT FROM THE CITY.
7. THE INSTALLATION OF ADDITIONAL IMPERVIOUS SURFACES NOT SHOWN ON THIS PLAN MAY
REQUIRE THAT THIS PLAN BE REVISED OR THAT A SEPARATE ENGINEERING PERMIT BE
OBTAINED.
8. ALL EXISTING AND PROPOSED TRASH ENCLOSURES SHALL BE FITTED TO COMPLY WITH STORM
