1. CALL TO ORDER
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, all Commissioners were in attendance via video conference.
Chair Lerchbacker called the meeting to order at 2:02 P.M.
2. ROLL CALL
Present: Commissioners Lerchbacker, Powell, Angel, Hanwit, Stewart and two vacancies
Also Present: Senior Center Manager Goodsell, Acting Parks and Recreation Director Karlen, and
Management Analyst Colombo
Absent: None.
There being a quorum present, the meeting was in order.

4. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS AND PROCLAMATION
4A. James Floros, President and CEO of the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, provided a
presentation on the unprecedented increase of food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
4B. Acting Parks and Recreation Director, Travis Karlen
Acting Director Karlen announced that Olympus Park is taking shape, and construction completion is on target.
In addition, he provided updates on the Senior and Community Center Patio Project. Acting Director Karlen
indicated that the selection of a new City Manager has been completed, and Pamela Antil begins her new
position as City Manager on October 12, 2020. Consequently, Jennifer Campbell will return as Director of
Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts, and Travis Karlen will return to his previous position as Recreation
Services Manager. He reported that a recent supervisory position vacancy in the department has allowed
management to redefine the role to meet the growing need for a full time Senior Services Supervisor. This
redefined position is currently under recruitment.
