MINUTES OF THE ENCINITAS SENIOR CITIZENCOMMISSIONMEETING

1. CALL TO ORDER
Commissioner Lerchbacker called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL
Present: Commissioners Lerchbacker, Powell, Angel (2:08), Lennox, Schnack, and Stewart
Also Present: Senior Center Manager Goodsell, Recreation Services Manager Karlen,
Director Campbell and Management Analyst Gilliam
Absent: Commissioner Schneiderman
There being a quorum present, the meeting was in order.

4. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS AND PROCLAMATION
4A. Encinitas Parks and Recreation Director, Jennifer Campbell
Director Campbell thanked Recreation staff and Recreation Services Manager Karlen for a
successful summer season. She provided a recap on the Encinitas Dog Days of Summer event
held at Encinitas Community Park on August 11. Director Campbell provided updates on the
Standard Pacific Park site, Trail 82 and Trail 95. Director Campbell announced that the Easy 2
Hike trails app will launch mid-September.
4B. Advanced Care Planning, Judy Schnack
Judy Schnack presented information on End of Life Care and discussed the importance of
having an Advance Directive. The next class at the Community and Senior Center will be held
on October 17, 2019.

JUNE 18, 2019 SPECIAL MEETING).

Commissioners provided updates regarding the FY 2019/20 Senior Citizen Commission Work
Plan goals.

Senior Center Manager Goodsell provided an update on Senior Center programs and services
including changes to the Senior Nutrition Program.
