Call to Order
Chair Stefanko called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

Public speaker Carolyn Cope requested the Commissioners provide letters of support to place
the Encinitas Boathouses on the National Register of Historic Places.

COMMISSIONER ABRAHAM MOVED APPROVAL OF THE MARCH 4, 2019 REGULAR
MEETING MINUTES. SECOND BY COMMISSIONER SIMS, AND THE MOTION CARRIED 5-
0 (COMMISSIONER SABECK ARRIVED AT 5:13 AND COMMISSIONER SCHMITT WAS
ABSENT.)

Action Items
8A. Approve the Encinitas Historical Society Tree Topper Competition Request to Assist With
Marketing and Serve on the Panel of Judges.
Staff liaison Gilliam reviewed the tree topper competition request, requested Commissioners
assist with marketing and for Commission members to serve on the panel as judges.
ACTION
COMMISSIONER ABRAHAM MOTIONED, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER REDLITZ, AND
THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0. (COMMISSIONER SCHMITT WAS ABSENT.)
8B. Review 2108/19 Commission for the Arts Work Plan and Develop Draft 2019/20
Commission for the Arts Work Plan.
Staff liaison Gilliam reviewed the existing work plan and discussed the plan for 2019/20 work
plan. Commission appointments to the board of directors of Encinitas Friends of the Arts is
voted upon each April.

Staff liaison Gilliam reviewed what would be required of persons serving on the evaluation panel
when it meets on May 13, 2019.

9A. Public Art Report. Contact Person: Arts Program Administrator Gilliam
Staff Liaison Gilliam provided an update on the mosaic project at Santa Fe Undercrossing.
9B. Encinitas Friends of the Arts Report: Commissioner Sabeck
Commissioner Sabeck provided an update on Passport to Dance, which will take place on May 11,
2019.
9C. Cultural Arts Division Report. Contact Person: Arts Program Administrator Gilliam
Staff Liaison Gilliam is in the process of locating a grand piano to purchase for the Community Center
and will attend the Beverly Hills National Auditions on April 20, 2019, which will determine the artists
who are engaged to perform on the 2019/20 Music By The Sea concert series.
