Mr. Holz reported on progress of Encinitas Brochure. Thank

Distributing will deliver 75,000 brochures in final form by
next meeting.

Mr. Dave de Cordova reported on the update of the Highway
101 Corridor. He reported there will be a Streetscape

workshop on September 15, 1999 @ 6:30 P.M. with the City
Corridor
Council. Mr. De Cordova reported on the status of the
historic route markers. Ms. Cameron offered that the
markers should be integrated with current roadside markers.

Chairman of the Citizens Rail Advisory Committee, Steve
Aceti, explained that the advisory is made up of citizen

volunteers and was formed by Pam Slater to evaluate the
Committee and the High Speed Rail
coastal rail corridor.
Authority
Mr. Aceti provided update on current proposals being made
by the High Speed Rail Authority. High Speed Rail
Authority board voted to keep inland route as part of plan.
Amtrak likely to take over the coastal corridor. Mr. Aceti
expressed concerns that Amtrak will not be doing
environmental impact study.
A general discussion on the pros and cons of a High Speed
Rail.

Chairperson Sheila Cameron reported briefly on NCTD's plans
to improve public transportation. A Fast Forward Committee
Update on NCTD plans
formed for this purpose.
