Rolateuk, L Rolateuk. DIRECTION /ACTION ISSUE ITEM # 1 Approved. Approve Minutes of February 4, 1999 meeting. ITEM # 2 Peder Norby gave an update on the Post Office situation. The Post Office will be Announcements staying. The Post Office has negotiated with the owner to extend the lease. As of March 3, surveys will be put into PO boxes and are due back by March 12. ITEM # 3 Thanked the Mayor for recognizing the importance of tourism and for putting Guest Speaker: Bob Rauch, President, Encinitas Encinitas on the map. Hotel /Motel Association. Mr. Rauch gave a presentation on a possible plan for the community. We need to be packaging Encinitas to our potential customers. With the immergence of Legoland, we have even greater potential. Mr. Rauch provided plans for marketing such as using web sites for lodgings, airfare /transportation, restaurants, events, cites of interest, etc. The internet will be important not only for US travellers but also to overseas travellers, since more and more overseas travellers are coming to San Diego. He provided members of the group with a printed copy of his business plan and a copy of the current membership of the Hotel/Motel Association. ITEM # 4 Mr. Aceti gave an update on the current move for sand/beach restoration. Our Guest Speaker: Steve Aceti, California Coastal Coalition. current pictures in our brochures aren't telling the truth about our beaches. This is not good for tourism. Beaches are an important part of our State's economy. San Diego beaches are #1 tourist attraction ahead of Wild Animal Park, San Diego Zoo and Sea World. Other states such as New Jersey, New York, South Carolina and Florida are already well ahead of us in funding. He asked that people sign and send a letter to their delegation for funding for restoration of our beaches. ITEM #5 Carried forward to a future meeting. Highway 101 Corridor Priorities ITEM #6 Eric Anderson. Growers Committee. Requests that the City Council put a "right to farm Oral Communications ordinance for nurseries" on the June agenda. The farm growers committee will present their model. Bob Rauch announced that there would be the first Hotel/Motel Mixer on 3/3/99 from 5- 7pm at the Green Restaurant Row. All welcome. Mayor Cameron introduced the new city council secretary, Debbie Lonsdale. ITEM #7 a) Capital Improvement Projects for 101 Corridor Agenda Items for Future Meeting: b) Discussion regarding Downtown Parking c) Review and Consideration of a New Promotional Brochure d) Discussion/Set -up Ad Hoc committees — set direction and priorities. e) Discuss Banners for the Highway 101 Corridor from Leucadia to Cardiff Thursday, March 18, 1999 at 8 a.m. Guest Speaker will be Lt.
