Contact Person: Chair Thum Commissioner Stefanko reported on the Arts Reflection program, the Arts Festival, and provided an update on Alliance for the Arts. Commissioner Filsinger provided an update on the Filmmaking Symposiumand Encinitas Student film Festival. Staff liaison Gilliam reported the Mizel Grant is included in the next two-year operating budget and received a request from the Commission to review and update the Community Grant guide and application. Staff liaison Gilliam reported on the California Cultural Arts District 2017 pilot program and provided Commissioners with a copy of the City of Encinitas Public Art Evaluation Form. ACTION COMMISSIONERS SABECK MOVED TO HOLD A SPECIAL MEETING ON FEBRUARY 11, 2017 AT 10:00 A.M. TO REVIEW THE PROGRESS ON THE GLASS MOSIAC FOR THE NEW MARINE SAFETY CENTER AT MOONLIGHT BEACH, SECOND BY COMMISISONER STEFANKO, AND THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. (COMMISSIONER KUTA WAS ABSENT.) 9.Informational Items 9B.Arts Division Report Staff liaison Gilliam provided an update on the commission recruitment process and light sculptures being installed at the Encinitas Library designed by Artist William Leslie. 9C.Commission-sponsored and Co-sponsored Events Contact Person: Arts Administrator Gilliam Wednesdays@Noon concerts: February 1, 8, 15, 22,Encinitas Library Music By The Sea Concert: February 17, 7:30 p.m., Encinitas Library 10.Future Agenda Items None 11.Commissioners’ Reports Commissioner Thum shared a video of the Navy Band Southwest Wind Quintet th performance and announced the Coastal Communities Concert Band 34 Anniversary performance on February 26, 2017. Commissioner Tanha reported on the Tapestry exhibitat San Diego Botanic Garden, the Mariachi Band for children,the Silk Road fundraiser,the need for a safe venue for High School students to gather after school hours, and available artist space at Coral Farm. Commissioner Filsinger reported Surfing Madonna Oceans Project donated $30,000 to The Alliance,the February 13, Power of One Acts of Kindness fundraiser for the Community Resource Center Carol’s House, and her production. Commissioner Stefankoreported on bronze castings of Veterans, and the need for Not Nothing.org student art space. Commissioner Abraham reported on the Tapestry exhibition at San Diego Botanic Garden.
