(COMMISSIONERSBROOKESAND WALDVOGEL WEREABSENT.) 8.ACTION ITEMS 8A. 2016-17 Youth Commission Work Plan Ad hoc committees report on FY 2016/17 Youth Commission Work Plan goal outcomes. Goal 4-Commissioners will work onthePet Therapy community service project for FY 2016-17.Chair Barth recommended the Ad Hoc Committee meet to discuss the project.Staff LiaisonBuckindicated he will email the Ad Hoc Committee to set up a meetingtimeand invite Kelly Peters from Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) with the goal to launch by May 19.CommissionerHaaland recommendedhaving RCHSstaffand dogs at the Do Life Big Event. Goal 5-Chair Barth reported the Ad Hoc Committee met on the Do Life Big Event and discussed the event: including budget and speaker line up; andchanged the logo.Staff LiaisonBucknoted staff is also working on potential speakers and sponsors and indicated all youth commissioners will need to promote, helpset upfor, and be present at the event.The start timehas beenpushed back to 5:30 p.m. Commissioner Haalanad talked with Cordelia Degher for music and confirmed availability. City of Encinitas and Mizel Family Foundation Community Grant Program 8B. Recommended Actions: The Youth Commission appoints a Commissioner to serve on the Grant Evaluation Panel. This item was skipped. 9.INFORMATIONAL ITEMS 9A. City Council LiaisonBoerner-Horvath Report Council Member Boerner-Horvath: Presenteda survey to Youth Commissionersregarding their experience on theCommission.She will present the survey results at the next Commission meeting and to Council. Gave informationon Beacon’s Beach access and offered tohave staff report back after the item goes to Council. Offered to report back on StrategicPlanning atthe next meeting. Gavean update on Pacific View, indicating theEncinitas Artsand EcologyAlliance receiveda grant from the County; they have cleaned up th the property and currently do monthly work parties on the 4Saturdayof the month.http://www.eacea.org/ Indicated the Moonlight Beach Marine Safety Centerprojecthas been delayed due to rains and that staff is revising the timeline. Youth & Teen Operations Report Staff Liaison Nick Buckreported onArbor Day, April 8,and the annual Egg Hunt, April 15,both atthe Encinitas Community Park. Youth Commissioners are requested to volunteer.Buck gave an overview of‘Walk Wednesdays,’a feature on the City website promoting walks, hikes, and runs in interesting areas of town. He indicted April 13, 2017 is the due date for Youth CommissionApplications.http://www.encinitasca.gov/Home/City- News/ArticleID/21 Buck introduced the new YouthCommissionSecretary,SamanthaMorrow. Chair Reports 1.Communications Chair Commissioner Vitenson reported that the City’s Arts and Events Calendar had gone out and included many interesting events happening in Encinitas. 2.Programs Chair Commissioner Haaland reported onthe Do Life Big event Ad Hoc Committee meeting. 3.Legislative Chair Commissioner Muir –No report. Commissioner Galloway reported on art events and concerts at the library. 12B.Commissioners Corner Commissioners provide informational updates on youth related topics. 13.ADJOURNMENT ACTION CHAIR BARTHREQUESTED A MOTION TO ADJOURN AT 5:20P.M.
