1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Chair Thum called the meeting to order at 5:08 p.m.
PRESENT: Commissioners Sabeck, Tanha, Thum and Kuta
ABSENT: Commissioners Filsinger and Stefanko
ALSO PRESENT: Arts Administrator Gilliam and Management Analyst Roff

COMMISSIONERS TANHA MOVED APPROVAL OF THE OCTOBER 10, 2016
SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER KUTA, AND
THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. (COMMISSIONERS FILSINGER AND
STEFANKO WERE ABSENT.)
8A. Welcome to the Parks and Recreation Department
Parks and Recreation Director Campbell provided a welcome and introduction
to the Arts Commission.

8B. Encinitas Friends of the Arts Report
Commissioner Tanha provided an Encinitas Friends of the Arts project update.

Commissioner Sabeck provided a public art update.

Commissioner Kuta provided an update on the Retrospective Exhibits project
and Arts Administrator Gilliam provided a program draft.
8E. 2017 Visual Art Program Applications
Arts Administrator Gilliam reported receiving 166 applications for 55
available spots.
8F. Commission Sponsored and Co-Sponsored Events
Arts Administrator Gilliam reported on the November 5 artist receptions,
weekly concerts and the November 18 Music by the Sea Concert.
9. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Commissioners requested the work plan be included in future agendas and a
welcome of the new Arts Commissioner.
10. COMMISSIONERS’ REPORTS
Commissioner Sabeck reported on the San Diego Art Fair.
Commissioner Kuta reported on potential opportunities with the Leichtag
Foundation.
Commissioner Tanha reported on the San Diego Art Fair, potential opportunities
with the Leichtag Foundation, and affordable housing for artists.
Commissioner Thum provided a report on the Coastal Communities Concert
Band activities and Friends of the Encinitas Library event.
11. ARTS ADMINISTRATOR REPORT
Arts Administrator Gilliam provided an update on the North County Arts Network,
Dia De Los Muertos and the status of the 2017 visual arts applications.
12. ADJOURNMENT
Chair Thum adjourned the meeting at 6:07 p.m.
