REGULAR MEETING FEB 3, 2016 4:30 P.M., 505 S. VULCAN AVENUE
1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Forrest called the meeting to order at 4:32 P.M.
2. ROLL CALL
Present: Commissioners A. Barth, Muir, Vitenson, N. Barth, Brookes, Conger (arriving at
4:33p.m.), Forrest, Wimsatt and Maskiewicz
Also Present: Recreation Superintendent Gorham, Recreation Supervisor Buck and
Management Analyst Roff
Absent: Commissioner Galloway

4A. Solana Center for Environmental Innovation – Jennifer Galey, Environmental
Educator
Ms. Galey provided background and an overview of services provided by Solana Center.

None

There were no changes to the posted agenda.

The Commission move approval of the Jan 6, 2016 regular meeting minutes.

Recreation Supervisor Buck presented the operations report.

12A. FY 2015-16 Youth Commission Work Plan
1) Review January 27, 2016 City Council Meeting Work plan Presentation
2) Ad-Hoc Committee Reports
Goal 1 – Recreation Supervisor Buck reported the tour plans to include
Pacific View
Goal 4- Commissioner N Barth reported outcomes of meeting with the
Community Resource Center
Goal 5- Commissioner Forrest provided an Ad-Hoc subcommittee update
Recreation Supervisor Buck reported staff has ideas to share with the Ad-
Hoc committee and recommends the Encinitas Community Center as the
venue
Goal 7- Recreation Supervisor Buck reported applications are ready for
the Ad-Hoc subcommittee review and will schedule a press release next
week. The application submittal period is Feb. 10 through Apr. 15.
3) Communications Chair Report
Commissioner Vitenson reported sending an email invitation to the February
Youth Commission meeting and encouraged fellow commissioners to do the
same, on volunteer opportunities at the Feb. 7 Cardiff Kook Run and on the
submission of pictures for marketing and social media.
4) Programs Chair Report
Commissioner Muir reported the commission tour will be a walk and he is
coordinating with staff
5) Legislative Chair Report
Commissioner N. Barth announced the Parks Master Plan Public Forum
on February 25
12B. Commissioners Corner- Commissioners provided informational updates on youth
related topics.
