MINUTES OF THE ENCINITAS SENIOR CITIZEN COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING
SEPTEMBER 15, 2015, 2:00 P.M., 505 SOUTH VULCAN AVENUE
1. CALL TO ORDER
Commissioner Henry called the meeting to order at 2:05 PM.
2. ROLL CALL
Present: Commissioners Henry, Lerchbacker, Melikian, Quinn, Stewart, and Vance
Absent: Commissioner Simon
Also Present: Recreation Superintendent Gorham and Management Analyst Roff
There being a quorum present, the meeting was in order.

Public Speaker Martin Cooper addressed the topic of senior dances hosted by the Encinitas
Rotary.

7A. Approval of the June 16, 2015 regular meeting minutes
ACTION
COMMISSIONER MELIKIAN MOTIONED TO APPROVE THE JUNE 16, 2015 REGULAR
MEETING MINUTES, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER QUINN, AND THE MOTION
CARRIED 5-0 (COMMISSIONER VANCE ABSTAINED AND COMMISSIONER SIMON
ABSENT).
8. ACTION ITEMS
8A. CPRS Aging & Activities Section, Southern California Senior Symposium
Commissioner Stewart volunteered to attend the Oct. 28, 2015 symposium. Staff will attend
and coordinate with the Commissioners attending.
9. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS
9A. Senior Center Operations Report
Recreation Superintendent presented the operations report and Encinitas Parks and
Recreation Special Olympics Host Town video and report.

12. COMMISSION REPORTS
12A. Senior Citizen Commission FY 2015-16 Work Plan Goals and Outcomes
Goal 3- Commissioner Quinn reported the subcommittee has identified email addresses of
individuals to invite to the Senior Commission meetings.
Goal 4- Commissioner Vance reported Director Murphy is leaving the City of Encinitas;
Commissioner Henry reported on a networking plan with CRC and will meet Sep. 16, 2015 at
the Senior Center.
Goal 5- Recreation Superintendent Gorham reported staff anticipates Commission participation
in January.
Goal 6- Staff will provide continued support to the subcommittee.
12B. Roundtable – All Commissioners
Commissioner Vance requested a future agenda item include the Rotary senior dance
presentation.
