MINUTES OF THE ENCINITAS SENIOR CITIZEN COMMISSION
SPECIAL MEETING FEBRUARY 23, 2015 AT 2PM
505 SOUTH VULCAN AVENUE ENCINITAS, CA 92024
1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Vance called the meeting to order at 2:03 PM.
2. ROLL CALL
Present: Chair Vance, Vice Chair Henry, Commissioners Bolus, King, Lerchbacker,
Melikian, and Simon (arriving at 2:10pm)
Absent: None
Also Present: Parks and Recreation Director Rudloff, Recreation Superintendent Gorham,
Senior Center Manager Goodsell and Management Analyst Roff
There being a quorum present, the meeting was in order.

Public Speaker Richard Boger spoke regarding senior housing development locations.
Public Speaker Sandy Atkinson spoke regarding EcoFest Encinitas.

ACTION
COMMISSIONER HENRY MOTIONED TO ADOPT THE FEBRUARY 23, 2015 AGENDA,
COMMISSIONER KING SECONDED THE MOTION, AND THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0.
7. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
7A. Approval of the January 20, 2015 Regular Meeting Minutes
ACTION
COMMISSIONER KING MOTIONED TO APPROVE THE JANUARY 20, 2015 REGULAR
MEETING MINUTES, COMMISSIONER MELIKIAN SECONDED THE MOTION, AND THE
MOTION CARRIED 6-0 (COMMISSIONER LERCHBACKER ABSTAINED).

8A. Financial Sustainability Project / Cost Recovery and Services Assessment
Chris Dropinski with GreenPlay presented an update on the Parks and Recreation Department
service and sustainability study.

Commission Henry requested information on Home Share and senior center programming.

12A. FY2014-15 Senior Citizen Commission Work Plan Tracking Report – All Commissioners
12B. Roundtable –
Commissioner Melikian requested seniors be provided more information on elder abuse.
Commissioner Lerchbacker agreed elder abuse is an important topic and seniors should be
given information on cybercrime.
Commissioner Henry suggested the Senior Commission assist the Parks and Recreation
Department with branding, agreed more information should be provided to seniors on elder
abuse, and provide seniors with information the signs of Alzheimer.

Chair Vance adjourned the meeting at 3:38pm.
