CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Chair King called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m.
Present: Chair King, Vice-Chair Simon, Commissioners Bolus, Drielsma, Harp,
Ortley, and Vance
Absent: None
Also Present: Recreation Superintendent Gorham, Senior Center Manager Goodsell,
Management Analyst Roff
There being a quorum present, the meeting was in order.

COMMISSIONER HARP MOTIONED TO ADOPT THE MAY 21, 2013 AGENDA VICE-
CHAIR SIMON SECONDED THE MOTION AND THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0.
APPROVAL OF THE APRIL 16, 2013 REGULAR MEETING MINUTES.
ACTION
COMMISSIONER HARP MOTIONED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE APRIL
16, 2013 MEETING MINUTES, COMMISSIONER DRIELSMA SECONDED THE
MOTION AND THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0.

SECTION 2: ADMINISTRATIVE BUSINESS
1. Discuss and Determine Work Plan June Site Visits
Commissioners expressed interest in touring the new Cardiff Fire Station or the
Encinitas Library followed by lunch on June 18 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
2. Discuss and Determine Work Plan Ad-Hoc Committees
Commissioners formed the following Ad-Hoc Committees:
Community Outreach Guest Speakers: Commissioners King and Drielsma
Transportation: Commissioners Bolus and Ortley
Housing: Commissioners Vance and Simon
3. Discuss and Determine Work Plan Senior Lunch Program Calendar
May 24- Commissioner Bolus, no lunch requested
May 31- Commissioner Drielsma, main meal requested
June 7- Commissioner Harp, main meal requested
June 14- Commissioner King, main meal requested
June 21- Commissioner Simon, salad requested
June 28- Commissioner Ortley, salad requested

Commissioners Corner
Commissioner Harp reported on the Lion’s Club May 22 fundraiser at La Paloma,
hearing concerns regarding the presence of displaced patrons at the Senior Center
and requested the Commission view the senior video at the June meeting.
Commissioner Drielsma reported serving on the Community Grant Panel.
Commissioner Bolus reported on his visit to the Senior Center.
Vice-Chair Simon reported on hearing concerns from seniors regarding transportation
concerns.
Commissioner Ortley reported on displaced patrons at the Encinitas Library.
Chair King reported accepting a Proclamation for Older Americans, Commissioner
Training on May 23 and the May 30 Fitness Walk and the Senior Center and Oakcrest
Park.

COMMISSIONER BOLUS SECONDED THE MOTION AND THE MOTION CARRIED
