The purpose of the evaluation was. to determine if the wall is constructed in substantial conformance with the design documents prepared by the under-signed. The results of our observations and evaluation indicate that the wall has been constructed substantially in accordance With-the:structural plans this office submitted to the City. The design documents (525-SG)were approved by the City on July 17,2007. If you have any questions, please feel free to call. In order to facilitate this, the surface of each of the deepened piers shown on the plan needs to be uncovered, and the contactor needs to coordinate with the City Inspector, Ben Oliver, so that he may inspect the piers. When that has been accomplished, Mr. Gaskari needs to provide to the City a signed and stamped letter certifying that he has observed the construction of the walls and is certifying that they have been constructed per plan #0525-SG. Please work with Ben Oliver to accomplish these items. I had spoken to your plan checker about these walls. Actually, we have placed notes on the drawings that identifies the long wall being already constructed. Please see Construction Note 1 that specifically describes the status of the wall. The plan checker at one time had indicated that the City may require me to certify that the wall is actually constructed as we show it on the plans (in lieu of inspection). I hope this helps. This wall was a special design (not San Diego Regional standard)and was checked by the City's consultant prior to the plans being approved. Since Ben has now been to the site and found that the majority of the wall shown as "proposed" is actually currently existing, a construction change will be necessary. Engineering staff will be driving by the site tomorrow to check out the wall and to advise on whether it can remain although it was built without the benefit of inspection. Stephanie --------------------------------------------- Not sure what she means by "construction change." Evidently whoever did the plan check didn't understand the project scope. Will you talk to her to clear up the matter so that we can proceed with the permit and getting the wall built? Here is her email address + phone as well as the email address + phone for the inspector Ben Oliver.
