1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
The meeting was called to order at 10:02 AM
Present: Chair Finch, Commissioners Drielsma, Harp, King and VanHoughton

Present: Senior Center Manager Goodsell and Administrative Support Coordinator Roff
Absent: Vice-Chair Campbell and Commissioner Vance
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Commissioner Drielsma led the Pledge of Allegiance
3. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
None
4. CLOSING AND ADOPTION OF THE CONSENT CALENDAR
Approval of Minutes for the Regular Meeting on May 17, 2011.
Chair Finch requested item 9, page 5 include Council Members Barth and Houlihan
joined Chair Finch and Commissioner Van Houghton at the Senior Volunteer Lunch.
Commissioner Van Houghton requested item 9, page 4 include Commissioner Van
Houghton thanked vendors for their good job at the Senior Information Fair.
COMMISSIONER H ARP MOTIONED, COMMISSIONER KING SECONDED TO
APPROVE THE MINUTES WITH CHANGES FROM THE MAY 17, 2011 MEETING.
MINUTES WERE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED 5-0 (VICE-CHAIR CAMPBELL AND
COMMISSION VANCE ABSENT).
5. PRESENTATIONS
Fire Prevention and Safety
Encinitas Fire Chief Muir provided an introduction and overview of services with emphasis on
programs and services provided to Senior Communities.
Encinitas Fire Marshall Scott presented information on fire prevention services and public
education.
Encinitas EMS Coordinator Murphy presented information on the Vial of L.I.F.E. program and
provided Commissioners with handouts.
Encinitas Fire Chief Muir provided Commissioners with answers to their questions and
reported the Fire Department will be happy to provide additional presentations.

6. NEW BUSINESS
Senior Center Manager Goodsell announced the Commission is dark in July and August,
July 18 is the second Public Workshop on the General Plan Update Health Element and
August 29 is the annual Spaghetti Dinner and requested Commissioners arrive at 5:15 PM.
Commissioners departed City Hall at 10:48 AM for a tour of Encinitas Fire Station 5.
