YOUTH COMMISSION
MEETING MINUTES
MEETING DATE: September 1, 2010
4:30 P.M.
1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Commissioner Ferreirae called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
Present: Commissioners Conger, Lawson, Barth, Dempster, Eyl,
Maskiewicz, Morales and Sands.
Also
Present: Recreation Supervisor Rubenstein and Administrative Coordinator
Jacklyn Dakovich.
Absent: Commissioners Marow and Haller.

4. CLOSING AND ADOPTION OF THE CONSENT CALENDAR
A. Approval of Minutes for Meeting of June 2, 2010.
COMMISSIONER LAWSON MOVED, COMMISSIONER CONGER SECONDED
TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE JUNE 5, 2010 MEETING. MOTION
CARRIED 4-0 (ONLY THOSE WHO ATTENDED JUNE MEETING VOTED).
5. PRESENTATION
None.
6. NEW BUSINESS
A. Park and Beach Tour
Commissioner Ferreirae reviewed the staff report and introduced Park & Beach
Supervisor Terry Smith who will conduct the park and beach tour. The
Commission members were invited to board the van and begin the tour.
The tour included stops at Moonlight Beach and tour of the Lifeguard Tower; a
stop on Mackinnon Avenue to view the Hall Property; a walk around Las Verdes
Park; and a walk around Leo Mullen Sports Park. Park & Beach Supervisor
Terry Smith also noted various points of interest along the tour – San Diego
Botanic Garden, San Dieguito Heritage Museum, Swami’s Beach, Cardiff Library,
and Encinitas Ranch Golf Course.
Commissioner Ferreirae distributed flyers on upcoming teen events. The
Commission thanked Park & Beach Supervisor Smith for the very informative
tour.

Meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
