PRESENT: Council Member Dan Dalager; Council Member Teresa Barth, Karen Coleman, Joe
Koch, John McIsaac, Paul Davis, Paula Kirpilani, Christine Beathard, Terry Wirth, and Committee
Secretary Brandi Lewis.
CALL TO ORDER - INTRODUCTIONS
Council Member Dalager called the meeting to order at 8:07 a.m. Self-introductions were made.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES - OCTOBER 4, 2007 MEETING
One correction to the minutes was noted. Committee consensus to approve the minutes of the
October 4, 2007 meeting minutes. _
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
None.
REGULAR AGENDA
1. DISCUSS POSSIBILITY OF SHUTTLE OR "BEACH BUS" TO SERVICE
DOWNTOWN ENCINITAS/LEUCADIA CORRIDOR.
Teresa Barth initiated a discussion regarding a possible shuttle or beach bus to service the
Downtown Hwyj 01 corridor. Example programs from other cities were discussed. Teresa stated
that City funds would not be used to pay for this service, and other funding sources, sponsors, and
donors should be identified. May need to coordinate with NCTD.
Creation of a a sub-committee was cliscussed., Council Member Barth will organize this item and
provide updates at the next Cultural Tourism meeting.
2. DISCUSS POTENTIAL USES FOR VACANT PROPERTY, WHICH_USED
TO BE THE OLD GAS STATION, LOCATED ADJACENT TO CITY HALL
AT THE CORNER OF E STREET AND VULCAN AVENUE

Teresa Barth initiated a discussion regarding possible uses for the vacant property located adjacent
to City Hall. It was noted that rehabilitating the building would be very costly.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Paula Kirpalani with the Leucadia 101 Mainstreet Association reported on the Leucadia Art Walk.
She also stated that Leucadia has been included in the Arts Alive banner. Dan Reedy, builder of the
new timeshare is sponsoring the banner. They will have 18 banners along the stretch of 101.
Paul Davis commented on the Historical Society's Ice Cream Social event on behalf of the
Historical Society.
John McIsaac with the Self-Realization Fellowship reported on the open house event that was held
in September, as well as the carved pumpkins that were displayed for Halloween. He also reported
that the Gift Shop is currently under renovation.
The Mira Costa College free lecture series, LIFE - Learning is For Everyone, are held every Friday
at 1:00 PM. .
Joe Koch commented on the Cardiff Surf Statue and discussion ensued about other public art
oPportunities. Karen Coleman reported on the Encinitas Visitor Ceriter. Exterior building signage is not up yet,
but is in the works. The new sign will be will be visible from Hwy 101. Currently there is
directional signage posted on Hwy lOl to direct traffic to the Visitor Center, Tourist season is
currently off and they are in plamling mode. Artist, Mary Fleener had a great open house. Gary
Tucker is still working with Mira Costa College to get interns.
