2007-04-05 CITY OF ENCINITAS CULTURAL TOURISM COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Poinsettiia Room, Civic Center . 505 South Vulcan Avenue Thursday, April 5, 2007 at 8 00 ~.m. PRESENT: Council Member Dan Dalager, Council Member Teresa Barth, Tom Cozens, Shari Fortmueller, Mike Bertrand, Sid Shaw, Julian Duvall, Paula Kirpalani, Paul Davis, John McIsaac, David and Margo Oakley, and Jim Gilliam. CALL TO ORDER - INTRODUCTIONS , Council Member Dalager called the meeting to order at 8:04 a.m. Self-introductions were made. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - MARCH 1, 2007 MEETING There was Committee consensus to approve the minutes of the March 1, 2007 meeting. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS None REGULAR AGENDA \ . 1. PURPOSE OF THE CULTURAL TOURISM COMMITTEE Council Member Dalager suggested setting up a website for networking: Mr. Dalager stated the City Gouncil would have to approve the request. 2. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS: • Historic Mission Bells Council Member Dalager to discuss installation of remaining plaques with DEMA Executive Directar Peder Norby and report those findings at a future meeting. • Envision Encinitas (NEA) Grant Project Jim Gilliam reported that Nobis and the City Webmaster are working on the forms and features of the website. • Cultural Tours/Garden Tours Event cancelled due to the winter freeze. • Operation Homecoming The "Muse of Fire" film regarding Operating Homecoming will be shown at the La Paloma on Saturday, April 28, 2007. The event will be free. ANNOUNCEMENTS Margo Oakley reported on the deep pit bar-b-q that will be held on May 19, 2007. She said tickets may be purchased at the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce or through DEMA. Paula Kirpalani said the Leucadia 101 Main Street Association would be holding Leucadia Nights to be held on May 11, 2007, and that the Farmers Market would be advertising their event and also obtaining signage. Several members reported on upcoming events.
