MISSION STATEMENT:
Reflect the unique richness of Encinitas history through online and onsite activities that
coordinate, encourage, and publicize historical preservation. Create a community-building
focal point on history that showcases the inspiration and excellence of Encinitas' five
communities: Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Leucadia, New Encinitas, Old Encinitas, and Olivenhain.
GOALS:
O Document today for tomorrow, capturing the past and present before it's gone.
O Bring all sectors concerned with Encinitas history and historical preservation together
as active partners to achieve goals and objectives.
O Raise public awareness of the importance of preserving records, photos, oral histories,
memorabilia, etc.
0 Incorporate the histories of immigrants to Encinitas from other lands into our history.
0 Create an Internet site as a local, national and international presence for showcasing
and marketing of Encinitas' historical resources, sites and events.

Create a simple and effective initial presence that integrates what has been done so far '
by the History Without Walls Sub-committee.

Establish a web host of the History Without Walls Sub-committee site at the lowest cost i
(possibly free from a community supportive provider such as Cox Communications, SBC). I,

Create a CD-ROM version of the above to provide to the libraries, thereby creating a
reference version that does not require web access.
Funding of this phase would initially be developed by committee members' volunteer
~ hours and any potential funding sources that would become available.

O Phase II: 2005
Create a more dynamic web presence that would serve as an exciting interactive
experience to the history of Encinitas.
This will be a state of the art web site that reflects the creative excellence of our
community.
Funding of this phase would be funded through grants from the City and/or other grant or
funding sources.
O Phase III: 2006
Enhance website to be optimized for broadband internet access and create high resolution
version in DVD-ROM format with image, graphics, voice, and video capabilities.
II. Marketinq
A. Publicize historical resources that are available to the public for viewing.
B. Create a handout, developed by all sectors of the community that are interested in
historical preservation, that reflects the rich history of Encinitas and provides easy access
to information and facts.

o Listing of historical organizations, archives, and services.
O How to access the History Without Walls Website.
O How to access the Community Calendar of Events that is maintained by
the Encinitas Chamber and Visitors Center.

Sub-committee consensus to approve the minutes of the March 23, 2004 meeting.

REGULAR AGENDA
1. PRESENATATION OF THE MASTER PLAN
Lois Sunrich and Billy Stern gave a presentation on the Master Plan. A copy of the draft master
plan was distributed to the committee members for review and comments. "The Master Plan " is
attached and hereby made a part of these minutes. After much discussion, the committee members
made revisions to the plan.
DIRECTION: II
Lois Sunrich and Billy Stern would forward the Master Plan, with the suggested revisions
and changes, to all of the committee members for final review and comments, and would seek
reply from the committee members for any additional changes. Ms. Sunrich and Mr. Stern
would return to the next meeting with a final version of the Master Plan for distribution. i
