CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Mayor Maggie Houlihan called the meeting to order at 11:08 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES - APRIL 27, 2004 MEETING
Sub-committee consensus to approve the minutes of the Apri127, 2004 meeting.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
Billy Stern briefly discussed the Cardiff Composer District Musical History Performance that took
place last week. He indicated that the event went very well and there was a good turnout. He
would like to see another event take place in the future.
REGULAR AGENDA
1. PRESENTATION OF THE FINAL MASTER PLAN
The proposed History Without Walls (HWOW) Master Plan was reviewed by the subcommittee
members. Everyone was pleased with the work. The following additions would be made to the
plan:
DIRECTION:
Add to the Historical Contributors Links list: County-wide organizations to include sources
such as the San Diego Historical Society, AAA, CalTrans, and Congress of History.
Add a Phase III to the plan to include:
Create a DVD-ROM version that would provide higher sound and graphics
capabilities;

Establish a web host of the History Without Walls Sub-committee site with a two-
track systems capability. One for Low Bandwidth compatible users and one for High
Bandwidth Cable or DSL compatible users.
Present the Final Master Plan at the next meeting.
2. REPORT FROM THE ENCINITAS HISTORY AND HISTORICAL
PRESERVATION RESOURCE BROCHURE SUB-COMMITTEE
Kenneth Hayward reported that some progress was made in the development of the resource
brochure. He indicated that some minor revisions would be made to the previously presented
brochure. The brochure would be finalized and distributed to the subcommittee members and then
presented at the next meeting.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Billy Stern would like the committee members to review various websites as a group to
brainstorm ideas for the HWOW website. He would like the committee members to bring to this
meeting various website addresses that the group could review and critique. This meeting would
be held in the Council Chambers in order to access the Internet on the large screen.
Peder Norby, Director of the Downtown Encinitas Mainstreet Association, indicated that the
Highway 101 Association was beginning a Highway 101 Oral Histories project. He would like
to place this issue on the next agenda for discussion. It is hoped that the HWOW Sub-committee
would consider being the lead agency to facilitate conducting the oral histories.

2. Highway 101 Oral Histories Project - June meeting.
3. Review and Discussion of Websites - July meeting in the Council Chambers.
NEXT MEETING: MOVE THE JUNE 22 MEETING TO JUNE 29, 2004
