Council tried to deternune if tourism was a benefit for the City and what impact it had on the City.
Some of the key points the study provided include:
Tourism is a definite benefit to the City;
An historical summary of the policies established by the City;
An inventory of tourism attractions;
Findings on the adequacy of their facilities;
Their seasonal peaks are in March/April and July/August;
Estimates on fiscal costs and revenues generated.
The City's next step is to survey the tourists and residents to assess their views and desires of "shared
facilities" such as the beaches, shops, restaurants, etc. They hope the survey will provide an
assessment on the needs and desires of both tourists and residents. This information should
eventually help the City Council deternune if they need to become more proactive with tourism and
develop a Tourism Master Plan.
