YOUTH COMMISSION
MEETING MINUTES
MEETING DATE: October 1, 2008
4:30 P.M.
1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Present: Commissioners Michelle Ferreirae, Felzer, Nick Ferreirae, Ogden,
Lawson, Campbell, Novack, Marow, and Marianna Jolly.
Also
Present: Recreation Supervisor Rubenstein and Administrative Coordinator
Dakovich.
Absent: Commissioner Alec Jolly.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
3. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
Karen Svet, representing the City Parks and Recreation Department, provided
information on the upcoming Encinitas Environment Day, noting an
organizational meeting will be held October 13, 5:30 p.m. at the City Library. She
suggested anyone interested in participating in the event could attend the
meeting or access further information on the event web site EEDay.org
4. CLOSING AND ADOPTION OF THE CONSENT CALENDAR
A. Approval of Minutes for Meeting of June 4, 2008.
COMMISSIONER FELZER MOVED, COMMISSIONER OGDEN SECONDED
TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE JUNE 4, 2008 MEETING. MOTION
CARRIED 8-0.
5. NEW BUSINESS
A. Park and Beach Tour
Commissioner Ferreirae introduced Park Supervisor Terry Smith, who will
conduct the park and beach tour. Commission departed at 4:45 p.m. and toured
the Manchester Preserve, Hall property, Swami’s, Moonlight Beach, including the
lifeguard tower and helicopter pad, and Beacon’s Beach.
Following the tour, Commission members thanked Park Supervisor Smith for the
comprehensive tour and met for dinner.
6. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
