MEETING MINUTES
MEETING DATE: June 4, 2008
4:30 P.M.
1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Present: Chairperson Michelle Ferreirae, Vice Chairperson Sherif,
Commissioners Prieto (4:40), Felzer, Nick Ferreirae, Ogden,
Lawson, and Marow.
Also
Present: Recreation Supervisor Rubenstein and Administrative Coordinator
Dakovich.
Absent: Commissioner Campbell and Novack.

4. CHANGES TO THE AGENDA
VICE CHAIRPERSON SHERIF MOVED, COMMISSIONER NICK FERREIRAE
SECONDED TO MOVE ITEM 6A TO THE END OF THE AGENDA. MOTION
CARRIED 7-0.
5. CLOSING AND ADOPTION OF THE CONSENT CALENDAR
A. Approval of Minutes for Meeting of May 7, 2008.
COMMISSIONER FELZER MOVED, COMMISSIONER OGDEN SECONDED
TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE MAY 7, 2008 MEETING. MOTION
CARRIED 7-0.
7. OLD BUSINESS
A. Community Resource Center Presentation Comments.
Commission members found the presentation interesting and informative.
8. NEW BUSINESS
A. Review of Summer Meeting Schedule.
Chairperson Ferreirae reviewed the staff report and requested input from the
Commission on the meeting schedule for July and August.
COMMISSIONER MAROW MOVED, COMMISSIONER
After a brief discussion,
OGDEN SECONDED TO GO DARK IN JULY AND AUGUST. MOTION
CARRIED 8-0.
There was also a brief discussion about meeting in September and it was
IN CONSENSUS,
determined, to meet in September and include a park tour as
part of the meeting, schedule permitting.
6. PRESENTATIONS
A. Recognition of Outgoing Youth Commission Members.
Chairperson Ferreirae reviewed the staff report and noted a job well done by
graduating seniors Vice Chairperson Sherif and Commissioner Prieto. She
thanked them for their participation and enthusiasm. The Commission also
thanked them with applause.
9. COMMISSIONER’S CORNER
A. Commissioners
Chairperson Michelle Ferreirae distributed flyers on several teen trips and
activities.
Commissioner Marow noted the upcoming Oakcrest Middle School awards night
th
and 8 grade trip to Disneyland on June 11.
Commissioner Lawson noted Oakcrest Middle School had recently held Career
Day.
Commissioner Prieto advised La Costa Canyon High School graduation
ceremonies will be held June 12 at 4 p.m.
Commissioner Felzer advised that San Dieguito Academy held Exhibition Day
this past week. He also noted the Academy graduation ceremonies will be held
June 12.
Vice Chairperson Sherif noted that the La Costa Canyon High School Boat
Dance will be held Saturday, June 7.
Chairperson Michelle Ferreirae thanked the Commission for their participation
this past year and invited Commission members to enjoy refreshments in the
Carnation Room.

The meeting adjourned at 4:49 p.m.
