MEETING MINUTES
MEETING DATE: May 4, 2005

1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Chairperson Briana Meyer called the meeting to order at 4:40 pm.
Present: Chairperson Meyer, Commissioners Ferreirae, Machado, Lee,
Prieto, Bangert and Felzer.
Also
Present: Recreation Supervisor Rubenstein and Management Analyst II
Stauffer
Absent: Vice Chairperson Vasquez, and Commissioners Royer,
Groseclose, and Ogden.

5. CLOSING AND ADOPTION OF THE CONSENT CALENDAR
A. Approval of Minutes for Meeting of March 2, 2005.
COMMISSIONER MACHADO MOTIONED AND COMMISSIONER FERREIRAE
SECONDED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE MARCH 2, 2005
MEETING. MOTION CARRIED 6-0. (COMMISSONER BANGERT HAD NOT
YET ARRIVED).

None
7. OLD BUSINESS
A. Status Report on Current Youth/Teen Activities (Teen Trips, Open Gym,
Open MIC, etc.)
Chairperson Meyer reported that Open Mic is May 20 and that Open Gym is May
7 and 21.
B. Commission Subcommittee Reports.
Teen Center Subcommittee - No repo►t.
Skate Park Subcommittee - No report.
Transportation Subcommittee - Commissioner Ferreirae reported on the flyer
that they had designed for transportation. Commissioner Bangert provided the
flyer to staff for distribution.
Marketinq Subcommittee - No report.
8. NEW BUSINESS
None
9. COMMISSIONERS CORNER
A. Commissioners
Chairperson Meyer reviewed and distributed information on the Youth Summit.
Commissioners thought the speakers at the Summit were very good.
Commissioner Bangert arrived at 4:45pm. Copies of the letter from the Governor
were passed out. Commissioner Ferreirae commented on the Youth Violence
Prevention speaker from the prior meeting. Chair Meyer reported that the
Intergenerational Talent Show is June 3 and that the next Commission meeting is
in June. Discussion items for the next meeting include the summer meeting
schedule and park tour. Commissioner Bangert announced that proms for LCC,
SDA and Torrey Pines schools are May 21.
B. Staff
Recreation Supervisor Rubenstein reported that Youth Commission interviews
with Council are May 11 and Council appointments are May 18. Program flyers
were distributed.

The meeting adjourned at 4:56 p.m.
