YOUTH COMMISSION
SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
MEETING DATE: August 10, 2004
9:00 AM.
1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
The meeting was called to order at 9:12 a..m.
Present: Chairperson Briana Meyer, Commissioners Anthony Prieto, Nadine
Vasquez, Kylle Groseclose, Mariah Ogden, Michelle Ferreirae,
Soh-Yeon Lee, and Jazmin Machado.
Also
Present: Recreation Supervisor Rubenstein and Administrative Support
Coordinator Dakovich.
Absent: Commissioners Drew Bangert, Lana Royer and David Felzer.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
3. CLOSING AND ADOPTION OF THE CONSENT CALENDAR
A. Approval of Minutes for Meeting of June 2, 2004.
COMMISSIONER MACHADO MOVED, VICE CHAIRPERSON VASQUEZ
SECONDED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE JUNE 2, 2004 MEETING.
MOTION CARRIED 8-0.
4. PRESENTATIONS
None.
5. OLD BUSINESS
None.
Chairperson Meyer suggested that Agenda Item 7A be addressed at this time.
7. COMMISSIONERS CORNER
A. Commissioners
Chairperson Meyer noted several upcoming dates - Open MIC on August 20;
Open Gym on August 21 and the next Commission meeting - September 1.
She also noted Teen Golf Clinic on August 16, Teen Trip to Six Flags Magic
Mountain on August 12, a Dance Party at the Community Center August 13, and
the need for volunteers to assist with the upcoming Encinitas Day October 2.
Commissioner Groseclose advised that school starts on August 30 for both La
Costa Canyon High School and San Dieguito Academy.
B. Staff
Recreation Supervisor Rubenstein noted the City Council meeting scheduled for
August 18 at 6 p.m. and encouraged Commission members to attend in support
of Youth Commission recommendations for the Hall property.
Chairperson Meyer read a copy of the agenda report which contained the Youth
Commission recommendations and then distributed copies of the report to
Commission members.
6. NEW BUSINESS
A. City Park Tour.
Chairperson Meyer invited the Commission members to meet in the City Hall
parking lot to begin the City Park Tour (ttinerary attached).
7. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 12:23 p.m.
