CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Council Member Houlihan called the meeting to order at n :05 A.M. Self-introductions were
made.

AGENDA ITEM
1. SUBCOMMITTEE UPDATES
· Historv and Historical Preservation Resource Brochure:
Council Member Houlihan indicated that the current version of the brochure would be used.
· Web site Database Subcommittee:
Council Member Houlihan indicated that Blair Gibb and Lynne Lewallen did a wonderful job on
the website prototype. She noted that Lois Sunrich, Blair Gibb and Lynne Lewallen would no
longer be able to participate on the subcommittee on a regular basis.
Houlihan discussed the possibility of combining the HWOW website with the NEA grant project
being developed by the Cultural Tourism Committee and the Commission for the Arts.

· Event and Marketin2 Subcommittee:
Council Member Houlihan indicated that Wendy Haskett would be holding a "Backward Glance"
book signing event with Barnes & Noble Bookstore in the Fall.
Houlihan discussed the work that Fred Caldwell had been doing on the 20th Anniversary logo and
calendar. Mr. Caldwell presented his draft of the calendar. He noted that there would be an icon
representing each community. He was hoping the obtain sponsors for each month to help defray
costs. Mr. Caldwell anticipates having the final version by November so that the calendar would
be available at the start of 2006. The subcommittee discussed possible uses for the logo such as:
lapel pins, kitchen magnets, t-shirts, tide book covers, license plate surrounds, banners, posters,
postcards. Additionally, the logo would be made available to any local group to use in
advertising events that they hold next year.
A subcommittee was formed to discuss such issues as funding, marketing, production costs.
Included were the following: Maggie Houlihan, Kerry Miller, James Gilliam, Fred Caldwell,
Lloyd O'Connell, and representatives from DEMA, the Encinitas Chamber, the San Dieguito
Historical Society.
