MINUTES
Meeting Date: september 16, 1994
1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Chairperson Hartley called the meeting to order at 1:10 p.m.
Present: Chairperson Hartley, Vice Chairperson Black,
commissioners Ash, Reahm, Springer and Weikum.
Also
Present: Pamela Alexander ,Recreation Superintendent, Jacklyn
Dakovich, Administrative Secretary, sally Burgess,
Sr. Office Specialist.

4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. Approval of Minutes for August 19, 1994 regular meeting.
MSC COMMISSIONER WEIKUM MOVED, COMMISSIONER SPRINGER SECONDED TO
APPROVE MINUTES. OF AUGUST 19, 1994 MEETING WITH MINOR
CORRECTION. MOTION CARRIED. 6-0.
5. PRESENTATIONS
None.
6. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. Status Report on Participation in Encinitas Day.
Recreation superintendent Alexander gave a brief report on the
status of the Encinitas Day event, Saturday, September 24,
1994. '
A brief discussion followed regarding the volunteer work
schedule and the need for another table and chair.
7. NEW BUSINESS
None.
8. ANNOUNCEMENTS
commissioner Weikum gave abriefannouncernent on Project
Care, stating that SDG&E may lend.support for printing costs,
as well as confirming city Council support in the amount of
$ 4 2 00 , f or a proj ect Coordinator. He further noted that
members of the Project Care Ad Hoc Sub-Committee would include
Commissioners springer, Ash . and Weikum; a Fire Department
Representative, Pam Alexander, Recreation Superintendent and
Barbara Ekberg, Scripps. He also noted that Vickie Valasco,
representing Area Agency on Aging, would like to be invited to
the next Project Care meeting.
commissioner Weikum' announced a ci ty sponsored work shop
on granny flats Tuesday, September 27, 1994, 7:00-9:00 p.m.,
in the Poinsettia Room.
commissioner Ash noted the importance of accommodating golf
enthusiasts when considering parkland acquisition.
Commissioner springer expressed concern regarding parkland
acquisition &nd the impact it might have on local taxes.
Chairperson Hartley inquired about public interest in the
Senior video.
commissioner springer suggested we publicize the availability
of the Senior Video. It was also suggested that we replace
the word rent with 'the word borrow in any upcoming
advertisements.

MSC COMMISSIONER WEIKUM MOVED, CHAIRPERSON HARTLEY SECONDED TO
ADJOURN THE MEETING AT 1:45 P.M. MOTION CARRIED. 5-0
