MINUTES
Regular Meeting Date: July 25, 2003, 1:30 p.m.
Community & Senior Center/Park Tour
1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Vice Chairperson King called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m.
Present: Vice Chairperson King, Commissioners Hentz, Harp,Tillotson and
Chairperson Vance.
Also
Present: Recreation Superintendent Miller and Administrative Secretary
Dakovich.
Absent: Commissioner Blaylock
2. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
None.
3. CLOSING AND ADOPTION OF CONSENT CALENDAR
A. Approval of minutes for Regular Meeting June 27, 2003.
COMMISSIONER HARP MOVED, COMMISSIONER HENTZ SECONDED TO
APPROVE MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING, JUNE 27, 2003. MOTION
CARRIED 4-0.
4. PRESENTATION
None.
5. OLD BUSINESS
A. Status Report on Project C.A.R.E.
Recreation Superintendent Miller referred the Commission to the June report,
and noted six new clients. She also announced that the current Project C.A.R.E.
Coordinator, Joyce Munro, was retiring the end of July and Gail Dupler had been
hired as the new Coordinator.

6. NEW BUSINESS
A. City Park Tour.
Recreation Superintendent Miller introduced Park & Beach Superintendent John
Frenken who will guide the park tour.
The park tour included Cottonwood Creek Park, Orpheus and Leucadia Oaks Park,
Glen Park, Cardiff Sports Park, Oakcrest Park (East), Leo Mullen Sports Park, Scott
Valley Park, various Trails, Little Oaks Park, Wiro Park and Sun Vista Park. The
Commissioners thanked Superintendent Frenken for the information on the various
sites and thanked him for his time.
7. COMMISSIONER’S CORNER/ANNOUNCEMENTS
A. Commissioners
Commissioner Harp asked if City Council was obligated to respond to
recommendations from Commissions. (He was referring to the recommendation
from the Senior Commission, presented to City Council in memo form, to waive room
use fees for Senior Center Foundation meetings).
Recreation Superintendent Miller advised she would research this issue and report
back to the Commission.
B. Staff
Recreation Superintendent Miller noted the upcoming City Manager/Mayor’s
Breakfast meeting to be held with Commission Chairpersons and Vice Chairpersons
on August 26.
8. ADJOURNMENT
A. The meeting adjourned at 3:42 p.m.
