CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Chairperson Vance called the meeting to order at 1 :00 p.m.

A. Approval of minutes for Regular Meeting May 26, 2006.
COMMISSIONER DRIELSMA MOVED, COMMISSIONER HARP SECONDED TO
APPROVE MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING, APRIL 28, 2006. MOTION CARRIED

7. OLD BUSINESS
A. Status Report on Project C.A.R.E.
Department Director Hazeltine reviewed the Project C.A.R.E. statistical report for May.

B. Status Report on Senior Center at Oakcrest Park.
Department Director Hazeltine announced that the upcoming Spaghetti Dinner will be
held at the Community Center Banquet Hall Monday, August 21st 5:30pm. All Senior
Citizen Commissioners will be celebrity servers. Also, the Senior Center's Fundraiser
Cookbooks are now pre-selling for $8.00. The cost will be $10.00 after September 29th.
Department Director Hazeltine also announced that the Senior Center will be selling
tickets to the Big Band Bash held at the Oceanside Pier on September 30th. All
proceeds will go to Senior Center Programs.
C. Update Report on Ad Hoc Sub-Committees. (Outreach Information,
Transportation Review, Senior Housing Review, Senior Disaster Preparedness
and Representative Reports)
Outreach - No Report
Transportation - Vice Chairperson King presented the current statistics for the Out and
About Program. The program currently lists 72 passengers, 6 on the waiting list, and 42
drivers. Vice Chairperson King requested that this information be presented as part of
the Senior Center Update at future meetings. He also requested a status report on the
budget for the Out and About Program. Department Director Hazeltine responded that
he will provide an update at the September meeting.
Senior Housing - No Report.
Senior Disaster Preparedness - Commissioner Drielsma remarked on the recent
earthquake report and is concerned about the safety of area seniors if such an event
were to occur. He is eager to start work on this sub-committee.
Council Contact - No Report.
Encinitas Senior Foundation Review - Commissioner Harp announced the
Foundation has received a $5,000.00 grant from Pam Slater's office to help with
donations to the Senior Center. Also, with help from the San Diego Futures Foundation,
the Senior Foundation will receive 8 new computers with monitors as well as new
monitors for the existing computers at the Senior Center. Commissioner Harp also
stated that they will soon announce the date of the Grand Opening for the new Living
Room at the Senior Center.

A. Commissioners
Commissioner Tillotson announced a workshop on the Five Wishes Program to be held
on July 9th from 1-3pm at Seaside Church.
Commissioner Drielsma passed on a request from a concerned citizen regarding the
number of disabled parking spots at the Senior Center and inquired if we need to re-
evaluate this issue.
B. Staff
Department Director Hazeltine announced the City Of Encinitas 20th Anniversary
Celebration at Cottonwood Creek Park on October 1, 2006.
