~ The secretary presented a petition by Carl Eck:aavd:t:. for the exc-t
elusion of certain lands owned by him, µ'hereas, a motion wss made
to accept said petition and instruct the secretary to publish

sai8 petition in Daily Transcript for tro consecutive reeks, The
motion was duly secanded and carried.
WHEREAS, to contply with section 19-?E of Irrigation Act of
1897, the Board of Direetors duly appatntdd Chas H. V'`ebstRr as
~ Inspector, Mrs. C. R. Coomer and Adrs. O.S.Bishop as JudRes to
serve on the Board of election to be held in the Office of the

Irrigation District on Wednesday,February 7,3917, between the
hours of 8 o'clock A.M. and 4 o'clock P.M.
The following RESOLUTION was made,duly seconded and carried:
iti'hereas, a certain agreement with I. E. Ginder as attorney for
the Cardiff Irrigation District did expire on December 31st,1915,
Therefore, be it resolved that it ri31 be for the best interest
of said District rhere it is necessary,to employ an atd~orney,to
pay only for services rendered.
Therefore, be it RESOLVED that the services of T.E.Ginder,
as an attorney for said District be diseontinued on the basis
of a retainer's Fee and all future business transacted rith
hin be paid for as per services rendered.
There being.no f.irther business, upon notion duly made, seconded
and carried the meeting adjourned.

~ The secretary reported that he had received trom Carl Eckardt,
a petition for the exclusion of certain lancis included within the
district, said lands being described in saict petition, and that he
had caused a notice of th e!'iling of said petition to be published in
The Daily Transcrigt, a newspaper of general circulation, published
in -thE County of San Diego, as required by law, and stating in said
notice: That any person or persons may shovu cause, iP any they ha.d
or haie, why the said lands should not be excluded Prom the district
at the time and place of this meeting.
Said petition was then read and is as follows:

Honorable Board, that they are the owners of real prop- ,
erty situated in the Cardiff Irrigation District, as ahown by

tact to be, that the said real eatate is not suaceptible of
Irrigatian from the source relied upon by said District for
vrater, because there is not sufficient water in said source

WHEREAS the engineer reports that it is necessary to
have an electric motar for the pumping plant at Encinitas, and
WHEREAS, ssid engineer further repotts that he has entered
inLo negotiations rith the Hartwell Electric Company of San Diego
to flirnish a ten (10) H. P. motor, which motor is gu.aranteed for
one year at a purchase price of One Hundred Sixty Five DoZlars
N6W, THEREFORE, be it, and it hereby is
RESOLVED, That said motor be purchased and a contract
be made for the purchase of same.
Upon a motion made by E. E. Young, seconded and unanimousa

furnish power for the pumping system at Fncinitas. After a
discussion by the Board of Directors, the folloeing

rieds That a contract be entered into arith said Electric Corpar.y
to furhish power for t.he Encinitas Tells, which contract after
being properly executed by the proper officers, wa,s ordered
filod by the Secretary.
