- The President called the meeting to order, The secretary read
the minutes of the previous meeting of December 5,191,#3, also, '
the minutes of the Speci.al meeting of December 13, 1916,
The minutes of both of these meetings were duly approved.

deem it necessary for the rest interest of the n;s±r.ict ard for t1'
best effi^iency of the pumping p&ant at -16ncinitas that a^urlex I=
piston pump plunger Ue installed, and
VvHEREAS, the Fairbanks ,°.qorse Co. has offered to sell :-aid pump
~ in two installments to the District, namely, the first ra,ymentof
$100.00 due noR and the second payment of $12m.Cr due June 10th
1917. Now, THEREFORL be it , and it heretiy is
' RESCLVED, that this District accept the alsove t'erms and pur-
chase swid pump. This ras duly seconded wnd carried.
At 8. T'eg11a^ reet.ing of the Cardiff Irrigation District,hEld at
the ofPi^e of said BOStrd on rjiar.ch 6th,1917. An arder was made
by the Board to issue bonds to the aTioa.nt cf f60,000. It -as (tytP
opinion of the Board a,+,. that time *nat the non6es received from
the sale of said tionds could Le used for the purFose of buvinA
any nater system tYaat the Directors of the Cardiff Irrigation
District decided to be best for t.he said District. This 'Roa.rd ~,.as
received legal advise and fir.ds that in the event t:rat said bonds
~ were voted for the specific purpose for purchasing a water s,ystem

A motion was made, duly seconded, and carried that the
interest on over-due warrants is and shall be 6 per cent.
- The President, J. Fre,nk Cullen, made the folloering
renarts-
ThaLhe with John F.Covert waited upon W. D. Hall
& Co.,well-drillers in El Cajon Valley~ ---1 made a contract for
the drilling of wells upon lands in the Olevenhain Valley.
Said contract wsa subnitted to W. T. Ginder, attorney Por the
District,approved by him and signed by Wilson D. Ha11,Presi-
dent of W. D. Hall 8E Co. and J. Frank Cullen for the Cardiff
Irrigat,ion District. Said contract being in words and fig-
ures to wit:

RESOLUTION PASSED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF CARDIFF
IRRIGATION DISTRICT, at the regular meeting of the said
~ BaaTd of Cardiff,San Diego County, California, on January
2nd, 1917 at 2 o'clock P.M. at the officc of the District
in the Flat Iron Building.

V4'HEREAS:Two Thousand Dollars borrowed from thc Union
National Bank of San Diego, California, bccame due
Deeember 31st, I9I6.
VIHEREAS Zhere appears to be in the treasury funds
sufficicnt to make payment of One Thousand Dollars
upon the prineipal and One Hundred and Two Doll ars
tvrenty-one cents being the interest upon said loan
to December 3Ist, 1916.
FJHEREAS The President of the Union National Bank has
assured the Directors of thc Caxdiff Irrigation
~ District that a payment of One Thousand Dollars
to apply upon the principal and the interest
One Hundred and Two Dollars'and Twenty-one cents
wilZ be sa.tisfaetory and that said Bank is
willing to takc a?~ote from said District for
Orie Thousand Doliars payable on or bcforc July Ist, 1917.
Now, therefore be it resolved that Mr. C. A. Hursscll
Trea.gure0f said District be authorized to draw his
check for thc sum of One Thousahd One Hundred and Two
Dollars and Twenty-one eents payable 1n favor of the
Union Natienal Bank, also a note for One Thousar.d
Dollars with interest at the rate of seven per cent.
payable on or before July Ist, 1917, siLid payrnent of
One Thomsand One Hundred and Two Doll ars and Twenty-
one cents and One Thousanci Dollars be in settlcment in
fu11 of claims held by the Unian National Bank against
the Cardiff Irrigation Dis~rict of Ja.nuary 2nd, 1917 and
that a wasrant of the District in favor of C. A. Hurssell
Treasurer for One Thousand Pollars be deposited with said
tinion iJatienal Bank as collateral securi ty for the pay- *
ment of said TSotc.
