Approval of Minutes: Regular Meeting of June 20, 1995. Contact Person: Assistant Planner
Olson.
Consensus of the Board to continue the Minutes of the June 20, 1995 meeting to the
next regularly scheduled meeting for revisions as discussed by the Board.

1. Public hearing to consider a request for Modifications of Design Review Pennit No.
94-145 to allow for a modified facia detail on the south, west and north elevations of
the northwesterly minor tenant retail structure within the "Circuit City" Commercial
Center and a Variance request to allow wall signage to exceed the standard 100 square
foot maximum to 320 square feet for property located in the General Commercial (GC)
Zoning District at 333 North El Camino Real. Applicant: Hollywood Video/Nancy

. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Receive public testimony and review the findings for
denial as recommended by staff. Deny the Design Review Pennit Modification and
Variance Requests without prejudice to redesign.
Motion: Board Member Edde - To consider the "hilltop silhouette" a portion of
the structure's design and to approve the silhouette and the revised size of the wall sign
to approximately 144 square feet with the silhouette only on the west side and to the
first building return on the south side. The applicant is to return with a revised
color/materials board for the tile accents and storefront mullions and is to reduce the
intensity of the hilltop silhouette color.
Second: Board Member Felker.
Vote: Ayes - Edde, Beck, Van Reusen, Weinstein, and Felker
Nays - None
Abstain - None
Absent - None
Motion: Board Member Felker - To pennit the reduced hilltop silhouette to be
accented along its top with two neon tube colors.
Second: Board Member Edde.

Motion: Board Member Van Reusen - Neon accents which outline the windows
shall be prohibited.

Motion: Board Member Beck - To adjourn the meeting at 7:55 PM to the next
scheduled meeting.
