MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF CARDIFF SANITATION DISTRICT BOARD OF
. DIRECTORS, JANUARY 9, 1990, 4:00 P.M., 535 ENCINITAS BOULEVARD,
SUITE 100, ENCINITAS, CALIFORNIA.
1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Chairman Gaines called the meetinq to order at 4:20 P.M.
Present: Chairman Gaines, Board Members Hano, Omsted, Shea
and Slater.
Also District Manaqer Shafer, City Attorney Krauel, Board
Present: Clerk Pool, City Enqineer Warren, Utilities Planner
Henie, and Senior Office Specialist Greene.
There beinq a quorum present, the meetinq was in order.

6. ITEMS REMOVED FROM THE CONSENT CAr.F.NDAR BY BOARD MEMBERS.

7. BOARD/DISTRICT MANAGER REPORTS
District Manaqer Shafer introduced Mr. John Murk who qave a
presentation on the results of the bid openinq for the upgrade and
expansion at the San Elijo Treatment Plant. He said official
action will be taken on this item at the special meetinq on January
23, 1990.
Mr. Murk told the Board that the bids he received were considerably
hiqher than the estimate prepared by Mr. Murk's consul tinq enqineer
for this project. The enqineer's estimate was about $14.75 million
dollars to cover the upgrade and expansion portion. Five bids were
received from five reputable contractors, the lowest beinq $18.2
million dollars.

Chairman Gaines declared the meetinq adjourned to the special
Cardiff Sanitation District Meetinq on January 23, 1990.
