SUBJECT: Authorization for Solicitation of Bids for the Swami's
Beach Access Development Project and the Acceptance of
a Quitclaim Deed from the Self Realization Fellowship for
the Purpose of Constructing the Beach Access.
BACKOROUND:
The City Council approved work project CS006, which was to
construct a new access to Swami's Beach, as part of the 1987/88
financial plan. The City Council approved the final design for the
beach access on September 6, 1989. The project is to be built
partially on the land the Self Realization Fellowship offered to
dedicate in 1985 for the purpose of constructing a beach access.
DISCUSSION:
Attached is a copy of the quitclaim deed offered by the Self
Realization Fellowship for the purpose of constructing a beach
access.
Plans and specifications for the Swami's Beach Access Development
Project have been prepared by Schmidt Design Landscape Architects.
They have been reviewed and approved by staff. Copies are
available in the Community Services Director's office for review.
Staff proposes to solicit bids from March 1 through March 30, 1990.
Bids will be opened by the City Clerk at 2:00 p.m. on March 30,
1990. It is expected that the contract for construction would be
awarded at City Council's April 11, 1990 meeting with construction
starting by the end of April.
RECOMMENDATION:
That City Council authorize the City Clerk to solicit bids for the
Swami's Beach Access Development Project; and accept the quitclaim

the City Council on motion of Shea, seconded by Gaines closed and
adopted the Consent Calendar containing the following item: 5.F.
