Declare an End to SDWD's Water Supply

March 22,2017
• May 2016—the SWRCB approved amendments to their Emergency
Regulations that allowed agencies to self-certify their level of
available water supplies assuming 3 additional dry years.
• June 2016- data was submitted to the SWRCB showing that the
District had sufficient water supplies to meet demands over the
next 3 years.
• July 2016— District Board approved moving from a Water Supply
Shortage Level 2 Condition to a Level 1 Condition.
• January 2017—SDCWA Board approved a resolution declaring an
end to drought conditions in the County due to improved water
supply conditions.

• Value of water based on formula for sales price of Lake Hodges

• Reduces the chance for Lake Hodges to spill
— Water spills in proportion to amount of water outside of the agency's
storage pool
• Districts have 10,700 acre-feet
— 5,700 acre-feet outside of Districts'5,000 acre-foot storage pool
• San Diego has 6,500 acre-feet
— 1,500 acre-feet outside of San Diego's storage pool
• If the lake were to fill up and spill,Districts'water would spill at
approximately twice the rate of San Diego's water

Recommendation
District Board to receive the presentation on the
agreement, discuss the information presented
as desired, and provide direction to staff
regarding the framework for future agreements
regarding the operation of Lake Hodges as
appropriate.
