Endorsing a Proposed Amendment
to the State Constitution Which
Restricts Communists.
WHEREAS certain petitions are being circulated within
the State of California,requesting thilt..a proposed amendment
to. the State const~~u~ion pe placed on the ballot for the
coming. election said amendment to (1) deny Communist and
subversive organizations political party status and property
tax .e,xemptionS, (2) prohibit members of such organizati.ons
or advocates of subversive doctrines from holding public
office or employment with the State or any other public
agency, (3). require teachers and other public educational
lost! tutional emplo.yees to answer congressiohaland le,gis..,.
lative committee inquiries concerning Communist affiliation
and subversion, and (4) impose conditions on use of publiC
buildings.:and property to subversive groups, and
WHEREAS the Directors of the San Dieguito Irrigat.ion
District feel that"it is time tb issue, a statement in favor
of such an amendment to the State cons-ti tution,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the. Board of
Directors of the San Dieguito Irrigation Distrtcthereby
endorse a proposed initiative constitutional amendment re-
stricting Communists in California.
