1999-004 Juvenile Incentive RESOLUTION NO. 99-04
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENCINITAS,
CALIFORNIA AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO
TO APPLY FOR AND EXPEND POTENTIAL ENCINITAS ALLOCATION OF
THE JUVENILE ACCOUNTABILTY INCENTIVE BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM
The City Council of the City of Encinitas does hereby resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, the Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant (JAIBG)
Program is federal funding made available to the States and local units of government
through a grant application process to develop programs that promote greater
accountability in the juvenile justice system; and
WHEREAS, the County of San Diego is the responsible unit of government
which administers and operates a juvenile justice system within the County of San Diego;
and
WHEREAS, the estimated Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant
allocation for Encinitas, if received, would be $5,848 with a ten percent cash match
requirement; and
WHEREAS, the County of San Diego has agreed to provide the necessary match
fund requirement for any potential regional project(s), including the match requirement of
the City of Encinitas, and assume all application, administrative and legal burdens as a
potential grant recipient.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of
Encinitas authorizes the County of San Diego to apply for and expend any potential
Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant allocation for the mutual benefit of both
jurisdictions.
