2001-010 Speed Limit ORDINANCE NO. 2001-10 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ENCINITAS, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING A SPEED LIMIT OF 50 MPH ON MANCHESTER AVENUE, A SPEED LIMIT OF 45 MPH ON SOUTH COAST HIGHWAY 101, AND A SPEED LIMIT OF 40 MPH ON QUAIL GARDENS DR/VE WHEREAS, Section 40802 of the Vehicle Code requires that an Engineering and Traffic Survey be conducted on non-local streets or highways where enfomement involves the use of radar or other electronic devices, WHEREAS, the City in February and March 2001 conducted speed zone surveys on Manchester Avenue, South Coast Highway 101, and Quail Gardens Drive and has completed this Engineering and Traffic Survey in accordance with the provisions of Section 627 of the Vehicle Code, WHEREAS, the City has determined that the reasonable speed limit for Manchester Avenue between E1 Camino Real and Interstate 5 is 50 mph, the reasonable speed limit for South Coast Highway 101 between Chesterfield Drive and the Las olas Traffic Signal is 45 mph, the reasonable speed limit for South Coast Highway 101 between the Las Olas Traffic Signal and the South City Limits is 45 mph, and the reasonable speed limit for Quail Gardens Drive between Leucadia Boulevard and Swallowtail Road is 40 mph, NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Encinitas, California, does ordain as follows: SECTION ONE: That the following speed limits within the City of Encinitas are hereby established: · Manchester Avenue (El Camino Real to Interstate 5) - 50 mph · South Coast Highway 101 (Chesterfield Drive to the Las Olas Traffic Signal) - 45 mph ORD0317T · South Coast Highway 101 (Las Olas Traffic Signal to the South City Limits) - 45 mph · Quail Gardens Drive (Leucadia Boulevard to Swallowtail Road) - 40 mph SEC..___TIO_NN TWO: This ordinance was introduced on July 11, 2001 SECTION_THREE: The City Clerk is directed to prepare and have published a surnmary of this ordinance together with the votes cast no less than five days prior to the consideration of its adoption and again within 15 days following adoption, indicating the votes cast.
